FINLAY, Dr. Ronald C., a lifelong resident of St. Thomas, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, in his 85th year.  Beloved husband for 59 years to Betty (nee Dawdy) Finlay.  Dearly loved father of Bonny Houghton (James) of Ottawa, Chris Finlay (Holly) of Union, and Dianne Couse (Bary) of R.R.#5, Aylmer.  Cherished grandfather of Joseph and Jasmine Houghton, Nikki and Matt Finlay, Steven, Candace and Jaclyn Couse.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Two brothers, Michael G. Finlay and Douglas A. Finlay predeceased him.  Born in Windsor, ON, April 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Dr. Charles M. and Helen (nee Udell) Finlay.  A retired dentist, Dr. Finlay practiced in St. Thomas for 35 years.  He was a Past President of the St. Thomas Dental Association and the Optimist Club of St. Thomas.  Dr. Finlay was active in the Crumlin Sportmen’s Association, London and the East Elgin Sportmen’s Association.  He competed nationally and internationally in target pistol competitions.  At the first World Masters Target Pistol Championships held in Toronto, he placed 13th.  Dr. Finlay was also a flying enthusiast.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and his cremated remains will be interred in McArthur Cemetery, R.R.#1, Southwold.  There will be no public visitation.  A private service for the immediate family will be held.  Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
