Emke, VernVernon E. Emke, former funeral director in Chesley, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in his 91st year.

Beloved husband and best friend of Beatrice Lenore Emke for 68 years. Dear father of Marlowe (Mary) Emke of Walkerton, Lynne (Bob) Hammond of London, Carol (Rod) Calhoun of Swallwell, Alberta, Leverne (Larry) Misch of Port Elgin and Heather (Rick) Grypstra of London. Vern will be fondly remembered by his son-in-law Leonard Calhoun (Pat Boyd) of Hanover and his only sister Glenna Maurer of Pickering. He will be sadly missed by his twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vern was predeceased by his eldest daughter Eloise Calhoun (2004), brother-in-law Bert Maurer (2002) and his parents, Wesley and Gertrude (Krause) Emke.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Vern’s life will be held at Geneva Presbyterian Church, Chesley on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visiting and fellowship will follow the service in the church hall. Inurnment in Chesley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Geneva Presbyterian Church or Brucelea Haven Residents Council would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
