Born in the Netherlands, immigrated to Canada in 1953. Cor passed away peacefully at Twin Lakes Long-Term Care Home on July 19, 2012 in his 98th year. Beloved husband of Nellie for over 68 years. Loved father to Marina (& Enno) Hoekstra of Gravenhurst, ON, to Peter (& Angela) of Whistler, BC. Cherished grandfather to grandsons Davin (& Tyler) of San Francisco, CA and Arin (& Samantha) of Lebanon, MO, and dear uncle to nephews Cor (& Carlene) and Rob (& Sue) Huis of Australia. He was predeceased by his son Sybe in 1960 and his sister Aagje in 2003. Cor was a barber in Point Edward till 1980 and then drove the bus for the Rotary Children’s Centre for several years. He continued to cut hair at the hospitals and in several nursing homes till 2004. Cor and his wife Nellie have been involved with music since the 1940’s when he played Hawaiian guitar with a group entertaining tuberculosis patients in Holland. In Sarnia he sang bass in the Melodyairs, Polysar Glee Club, church choirs and the Interlink Choir. He and Nellie were also founding members of the Sarnia Ballroom Dancing Club. Cor was a community volunteer for over 60 years which included providing music for the travelogues of the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia. Cremation has taken place.
