Peacefully, surrounded by his children, Ross passed April 23, 2014. Ross was 85 years old and lived an adventurous, active life filled with family and friends. Ross joins his wife Joan Edwards (Bothwell) of 60 years who passed on Nov 12, 2010, his brothers Grant and Douglas Edwards, his parents, and grandson Matthew McGuire who passed May 3, 2013. Ross will be dearly missed by his children Mary Edwards (Wayne Tousignant), Barb Edwards McGuire (Dave McGuire) and son Neil Edwards (Rhonda Selk). Grandchildren Jessica McGuire, Renee Tousignant (Mark Hurley), Yvette Lehman (Scott Lehman) & Duncan Edwards & Great grandchildren Dexter & Simon McGuire, and Baby Lehman.

Ross’ love of the outdoors was shared by his family and friends through time spent on the farm and travelling the country. Ross and Joan spent many summers with their children camping and travelling, seeing the sites of the country. They continued to do this with their grandchildren as they grew, and shared their love of the outdoors, especially skating and fishing on the pond.

Ross was a graduate of the University of Toronto in 1952 with a degree in Physical Education followed by his Masters in History. It was during his time in University that he met the love of his life Joan. Ross and Joan moved to Amherstburg in 1974 where they built two homes and maintained their 40 acres of land where they welcomed family and friends on a daily basis to camp, hunt, fish, farm and play.

Ross was a teacher at W.D Lowe Secondary School, Vincent Massey Collegiate Institute and was the Coordinator of Health and Physical Education for the Windsor Board of Education before retiring.

At Ross’ request cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the family home on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
