With great sadness, we announce the passing of John Easterbrook on Friday, November 21, 2014.  Remembered lovingly by his wife Helen of 59 years; sons Douglas (Laura) and Stuart (Karen); daughter Carlyn (Philip) and grandchildren Ian, Andrew, Katie, Kevin and a new grandchild due in the spring.  John was born May 17, 1930 in Chesterfield, England of Scottish parents, and considered himself a true Scot.  Graduating from Glasgow University, he served in the RAF in Suez Canal Zone before starting his career as a chemical engineer in Scotland, England and Ireland.  Emigrating to Canada in 1967, John enjoyed a long career with Dow Chemical, Sarnia. John’s passion was playing duplicate bridge, organizing the Bluewater Bridge Tournament for 30 years, and was actively involved in the Oakwood Bridge club.  He loved to travel, was an avid golfer, a big fan of the Blue Jays and Scottish tennis star Andy Murray, and was an active member with the Golden K’s.  Thank you to the care workers from CCAC, St. Josephs Hospice, and all our friends who supported us through his long battle with cancer.  Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or Grace United Church (cheques only at the funeral home please)
