A special person in our lives, John Eager passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice at the age of 87. Dearest husband of Marie Louise (Heathcote) Eager. John was born in Montreal to parents Norman and Adele Eager. The family settled in Hamilton when John was 12. He attended school there, and later Upper Canada College in Toronto. He leaves behind his best friend and sister Alicia (Dudley) Davis of Florida, and his sister-in-law Jessie (Archie) Muir of Fenelon Falls. Caring and loving father to Ted (Sandy) Eager of Burlington, Andrea (Ed) Ysebaert of Brights Grove, and Cameron (Joanne) Eager of Sarnia. Cherished grandfather (Bops) to Lisa (Artem) Dessiatkine of Mississauga, Jenna Eager of Toronto, Alison Meriano of Milton, Nicole (Gil) Camara of Aldershot, Bradley (Ashleen) Ysebaert of Corunna, Bryan (Jessica) Ysebaert of Mooretown, Andrew Ysebaert (Laurel) of Grande Prairie, AB, Leanne (Bryan) Mercier of Sarnia, and Derek Eager (Sheena) of Sarnia. Much-loved great grandfather of Bailey, Riley, Olivia, Kamyrn, Adelle, Patrick, Luke, Tucker, Eli and Isabel. John loved his summer weekends in Bayfield on the golf course and the yearly visit to Huntsville with all the family that made life so special for him. John loved challenges in life and his years in Sarnia were rewarding as he spent time with various organizations: Treasurer of Crime Stoppers and a Board Director of the Chamber of Commerce. In past years he was a member of the Optimist Clubs in Brantford, Calgary and Sarnia. His career started at Canadian Pittsburg Industries, Lighting Unlimited, and partnered with son Cam at Corunna Home Hardware.Thank you to so many wonderful people and organizations that have helped the family in the last few years: CCAC, Red Cross, St. Joseph’s Hospice, Bluewater Health and medical teams. We are so blessed to have such good neighbours, friends and family. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or Grace United Church (cheques only at the funeral home please).
