DURETTE, GeraldIt is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing on Sunday, March 17 2013 at the age of 79 years. Son of  late Anselme and late Mary (née Bradley) Durette .  Beloved husband of Denyse (née Fortier) Durette.  Loving father of Monique (David Murray) of Acton, Jean-Pierre (Lise Labelle) of Sudbury, Janine (Jim McDonnell) of Longueuil QC and André (Janice Porter) of Sudbury.  Sadly missed by his grand-children Chantale, Mélanie, Joël, Nicolas, Jean-Francois, Kateline, Amber, Jonas, Lenore, Simone and by his great-granddaughter Magalie.  Dear  brother of  Ludger (Rose).  Predeceased by his sister Estelle.  Lovingly remembered by many relatives and friends.  He was the director of radiology at St-Joseph and Laurentien Hospitals until his retirement in 1993 and also sat on the Board of Administration with the Cooperative Funeral Home.  Aside from being a proud family man, Gérald was a very active member of the community. He took part in various church committees at “La Paroisse La Toussaint” during the 26 years he resided in Minnow Lake and the finance committee at “La Paroisse St-Joseph” in Chelmsford where he resided on Whitewater Lake since 1993.   He volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society and for the Laurentian Hospital Helpline.  Gérald was “Grand Knight” with the Knights of Columbus, council 6258 for a period of time. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Intensive Care Unit staff of Health Sciences North for the kind and compassionate care and also to Father Terry Fournier for being by their side during this difficult time.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691 R R 15, Chelmsford, Thursday from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9:30p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. in St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford.
