Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia after a lengthy illness.  Beloved husband of Marilyn for 47 years. Loving father of Lisa (Alan) Eidt and Karen (Andrew) McClintock. Proud papa of Rachel and Mathew Eidt, Jenna and Jessica Cumming and Megan McClintock. Dear brother of Alice Freeman of Sarnia. Brother-in-law to Bob and Joan Pratt and Christine and Bob Shain. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Anne Duffy.
Jim was fond of horses and from an early age spent time riding, showing, racing and judging. He enjoyed playing his guitar, baseball, hunting and fishing with his family and his many friends. He worked as a project design engineer in Sarnia in the chemical valley and travelled extensively for Glitch & Catalytic. He spent hours in his shop tinkering, building and fixing anything and everything. He was a long-standing member of St. Philip’s Parish, an important part of his life. Jim fought long and hard concerning environmental issues in his community. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with prayers being offered at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, 415 King St., Petrolia. Interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wyoming.
