Dolan, Marie Elizabeth (nee Chapelle)

(November 24, 1924 – November 28, 2012)

Marie died peacefully, with family at her side, at McQuigge Lodge in Cannifton on Wednesday afternoon, November 28, 2012 in her 88th year.  The family would like to thank the support staff and the nursing staff and McQuigge Lodge for their outstanding kindness and care in looking after Marie for the past five years.  Marie was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Dolan originally of Marlbank, ON.  She was the proud mother of five children, Julie (Andrew) Campbell, Carol (Rob) Janke, David (Rosanne), Stephen, and Mary (Kevin) Drane.  She always took great delight in her eight grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Tom, Katie, James, Lyndsey, Carly, Daniel and two great-grandchildren Hart and Luna.  Marie is survived by her sisters, Barbara Galvin in Peterborough, and Loyola McCabe in Belleville and her brother Joseph also in Belleville.  Marie is predeceased by her sisters, Sr. Mary Lorraine Chapelle 1978, and Rita Chapelle 2011.  Born and raised in Belleville, Marie’s parents were John Chapelle of Belleville and Julia Mullins formerly of Read, ON. After high school, Marie attended Teacher’s College in Peterborough, and began her teaching career in Erinsville where she met Tom.  She completed her teaching career in 1983 at The Ontario School for the Deaf, some 35 years later.  After retiring, Marie and Tom spent many winters in Florida, connecting with family and playing bridge as one of their favorite pastimes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel on Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.  Following the interment at St. James Cemetery, a reception will be held at the St. Michael’s Parish Hall, beside the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
