Gordon “Ben” Devlin, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, November 16, 2014. He was 90.
Born in Hanover to the late Elmer and Eva (nee Hazelton) Devlin. Ben was employed with Ontario Hydro and worked as a Line Superintendant until his retirement. He was a member of the Canadian Legion for 72 years with branches in Walkerton, Owen Sound and Chatsworth and a proud WWII Veteran.
Survived by daughter Linda (Paul) Hawkins of Walkerton, sons John (Irene) Devlin of Owen Sound and Ken (Nancy) Devlin of Comox, B.C., grandchildren Tammi (Andy), Matt (April), Andrew (Julie), Carly (Ian), Monica (Marty) and Joe (Lindsay), great grandchildren Brett, Natalie, Claudia, James, Ryan, Adam, Jacob, Carter, Owen, Olivia and Sheri. Also survived by his sister Jean McKay of Hanover and sister-in-law Muriel Devlin of Guelph. Predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Tilker) Devlin, son Bill Devlin, brother Bob Devlin and sisters Cassie Devlin, Vera Richardson, Ferne Spalding, Florence Schellenberger, Ruth Schwartz and June Cox.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Rev. Rienk Vlietstra officiating. Cremation with spring inurnment in Chatsworth Cemetery.
