DEVEN, Eunice Leah (née Bowring), of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence, the Valleyview Home, on Monday, April 17, 2017, in her 88th year.  Beloved wife of the late Konstanty “Kostek” Deven (1995).  Dearly loved mother of John Deven (Laima Pecs) of Burlington, Christopher Deven (Pamela) of St. Thomas, and the late Andrew Deven (Lorrie of Jaffa).  She was proud of her grandchildren, Eric Deven (Terra), Matthew Deven, Emily Deven, and the late Nelson Deven, and her great granddaughter, Morgan Deven.  Dear sister of Stewart Bowring (Ellen) of Cambridge, Robert Bowring (Kath), and Freda Lankester (Michael), all in England.  Also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families.  Born in Kimberley, England, August 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Eva (née Mathias) Bowring.  Eunice came to St. Thomas from England in 1957.  She was a retired bookkeeper with Family & Children’s Services of St. Thomas & Elgin.  Eunice was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas where she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, and formerly served on the Parish Council.  Committed to the care and protection of animals, Eunice was a former secretary/treasurer of Animal Aide, St. Thomas-Elgin.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A public memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, 20 Morrison Dr., St. Thomas on Friday, May 12th at 5:00 p.m.  Flowers respectfully declined.  If so desired, memorial donations to Animal Aide will be gratefully acknowledged.
