Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health on Thursday, January 15, 2015, Jack Dent passed away at the age of 89. Loving husband of Edna May Dent for 62 years, dear father of Ann and David Hally, Dartmouth Nova Scotia, John and Halima Dent, Brights Grove, and Martha and Thom Brunet, Brampton. Treasured Papa of Katy, David, Emily and James Hally; Michael, Elizabeth, John and Jamilah Dent; Hannah and Rachel Brunet. Cherished brother to Carole Howell, Merlin, Ontario and special uncle to Chuck, Ted, Scott, Bob and families.

Jack was born in Merlin, Ontario on December 5, 1925 and was a partner in the Ford Dealership John Dent & Son until it closed in 1973. He then worked as an office manager at George, Murray & Shipley until his retirement in 1990.

He was past president of Merlin Rotary Club; 50 year past master of Century Lodge, Merlin; and member of Mocha Shrine, London.  He was secretary/treasurer of the Merlin Public and High School Board; Chairman of Raleigh Township Public School Board; on the Kent County Education Consultative Committee; and Chairman of Merlin Village Council.  In Sarnia he became secretary/treasurer of the 404 House and a member of Grace United Church.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Grace United Church, 990 Cathcart Blvd., Sarnia, at 12:00 p.m., with family and friends being received one hour prior at the church. A reception will follow at the church. All welcome.
