CowanAlexwebAlexander “Alex” Cowan Jr. in his 82nd year of Petrolia, died suddenly in Panama City, Florida on Monday, February 18, 2013.  Alex was the loving husband of 60 years to Mildred (nee Luckasavitch) Cowan.  Cherished father of John and Lori Cowan of Brigden, Jane and Mark Teskey, and Thomas and Carol Cowan, all of Petrolia.  Grandfather to Angela (Adam) Pearce of Stoney Creek, Amanda Cowan of Windsor, Christina Teskey, Melissa Teskey, and Thomas Cowan, all of Petrolia, and great grandfather of Clarice Chevalier of Belle River and Christopher Teskey of Petrolia.  Brother-in-law to Barry (Muriel) , Richard (Jane), and Harold (Val) Luckasavitch.  Alex was the only child of, and was predeceased by his parents, Alexander (1975) and Mary (nee Graham) Cowan (1994), his son Ronald (1978), and his grandson Douglas Teskey (1989). Alex was born in Petrolia, Lambton, Ontario, was retired from Fibreglass Canada, and was a life member of the Burns Lodge No. 153 AF & AM .  In his years of retirement he and Mildred enjoyed spending a part of their year in Petrolia, a part at the cottage in Whitney, Ontario, and parts of some winters in Florida. He was an outdoors man who loved fishing the lakes of Algonquin and was a book of knowledge and history, making friends where ever he went.  He will be truly missed by many.  Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment in Wyoming Cemetery.   As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the C.E.E.
