COTTERILL: Kenneth William of Freelton, formerly of Brampton
Passed away at Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, January 19th, 2014, at the age of 85. Beloved husband and best friend of Joan Irene (Faulkner). Joan was the love of his life. Loving father of Valerie (Millen) and her husband Doug, Robert and his wife Veronica. He is survived by his brother Ronald in Australia, brother Clive and sister Gillian in England. Cherished grandfather of Kelly (Matt), Kristen (Chris), Adam, Andrea, Nicole and Kenneth. He also had three great-grandchildren Carter, Kaitlyn and Liam. Ken as he is known to his friends, was an accomplished trumpet player and conductor. He loved to play golf and his newest hobby was wood carving. His work with Kiwanis saw him serve as President of the Flower City Club in Brampton, Lt. Governor of District 7 and Governor of Eastern Canada and the Caribbean. For 19 years he was conductor and arranger of music for the City of Brampton Concert Band. Ken was often playing his trumpet at Strabane United Church in Freelton, and at Remembrance Day services for the local schools. He has received many honours and awards throughout his lifetime, a few of those being Brampton Citizen of the Year and Government of Canada Award. A Private Memorial Service is being held by the family and there will be a public Celebration of his Life at a future date this summer.
