Tom ColeCOLE: Thomas Edward “Tom”

Passed away at the P.R.H.C. on Monday March 3, 2014.  Tom will be remembered by many as a dedicated lawyer through his practice “Baker & Cole” in Lakefield, having begun practicing law in Peterborough County in 1972.  He made a significant contribution to the governance of the legal profession in Ontario, serving as a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada from 1995 to 1999 and he  was instrumental in developing a long-term management plan for the sustainability of the Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park.  Tom was an active Mason and was Past Master of Peterborough Lodge #155 A.F. & A.M., as a member of Clementi Lodge #313 A.F. & A.M. and a Shriner.  He was also an active member and serving Lieutenant of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, a longtime board member of Hospice Peterborough and a member of the Douro Optimist Club.  He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.  Cremation has taken place.  In keeping with Tom’s wishes, a private family interment will be held at a later date.  In memory of Tom, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough as expressions of sympathy.  Friends may send condolences by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL at or by calling 705-652-3355.
