SHEPPARD, MARILYN – At St. Joseph’s Hospice on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, Marilyn June (Dougherty) Sheppard, age 84 of Sarnia passed away. She was the dear wife of the late Allan A. Sheppard and loving mother of daughter Ruth Gartlan (Martin Randall) and Step-Daughter Noreen Taylor (Paul) and daughter in laws Jane and Rosemary Sheppard, grandmother of Jennifer (Jamie), Heather (Kerry), Andrew (Amy), Mark (Melanie) and Rachel, great-grandmother of Caleb, Nathan, Alexis, Aiden, Juliana, Kyle and Amy. She is also survived by her sister Arlene Wright. Several nieces and nephews survive. She was predeceased by her Step-Sons Brian and David Sheppard, her sister and brother, Shirley and Ross Dougherty. Marilyn was a longtime member of Central United Church, the church choir and the Elizabeth II Chapter, IODE. She was a volunteer with the Children’s Aid Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Parkinson’s Canada. Marilyn enjoyed quilting, playing bridge, sewing, traveling with friends and family and spending her summers at the family cottage. Cremation will take place and a private interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held later at Central United Church (220 George St., Sarnia, N7T 4N9). Memorial donations in memory of Marilyn made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Canada would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Wednesday December 13th, 2017 in his 76th year.  Beloved husband of Louise Baxter.  Cherished Dad of Jenny & Craig, Ian & Shelley, Justin & Andrea, and loving grandfather of Jack.  Friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg on Sunday December 17th, from 12 noon – 4 pm.  A memorial service will be held in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Monday December 18th, 2017 at 1 pm.  Bryan worked for the town of Cobourg for over 39 years and served on many committees and boards such as Cobourg Police Board (served for 8 yrs.), 911 Communications Advisory Board (appointed and served for 5 yrs.), Federation of Canadian Municipalities (participated as an exchange volunteer which took him as far as Africa on Municipal Twinning programs), Association of Ontario Small Urban Municipalities (Executive Secretary for 27 yrs.), Ontario Municipal Administrators Association (Member for over 25 yrs.), Association of Municipal Managers Clerks & Treasurers (Received award of merit), Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).  Bryan was very community oriented and served as a cub scout leader and scout leader.  He was also a very active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where he was appointed the youngest elder and served as a church elder for over 50 years.  Bryan played an integral role in establishing Northumberland Land Trust, was a member and past president of Willow Beach Field Naturalists and an enthusiastic amateur ornithologist, where he participated in bird counts, feeder watches and bird surveys for many years.  But Bryan’s biggest accomplishment was that he was appointed position of husband & father, and served at the pleasure of Louise for more than 51 years.  If desired donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada or Presbyterian World Service & Development.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.

The passing of Hiram “Fay” Leroy Wilcox, husband of Mary (Gowan) Wilcox of St. Stephen NB occurred on December 5, 2017 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB.

Born in Digdeguash NB on May 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Hiram Sr. and Nellie (Cooke) Wilcox. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by two sons: Daniel (Shirley) Wilcox of Lindsay ON and Dwayne (Tamara) Wilcox of Oshawa ON; one daughter: Kimberley Wilcox of Oshawa ON; grandchildren: Ashley, Noelle, Joshua, Clinton and Travis; great-grandchildren: Riley and Ethan; one brother: Carson (Bert) Cooke of St. George NB; one sister: Isabelle (Bill) Mauser of Mississauga ON; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Fay was predeceased by one daughter in infancy: Ardith Gail; and brothers: Vance Wilcox and Clark Wilcox.

Prior to retirement, Fay worked for the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant in Oshawa ON. He was a man of simple pleasures who enjoyed making quilts and spending time at the cottage. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family.

Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Elwood M. Jones April 6, 1921 – Dec. 12, 2017 With family by his side passed away, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario on Tuesday Dec. 12, 2017 at 96 years of age. Husband of the late Betty M. (Shred) Jones (deceased 1985). Loving father of Alvin (Ann) and Sharon (Bill) Dodds. Cherished grandfather of Derek Jones (Lonni Taylor), Jeff (Sue) Dodds, Jeremy (Julie) Dodds and the late Michelle (Evan) Taylor. Step grandfather to Chris (Cindy) Wilson and Kim Johnston (Mark Fournier). Devoted great grandfather to Sabrina Jones (Josh Fairman), Colton Jones (Raven Hilts), Carson Dodds, Maya Dodds, Lee Dodds and Finn Dodds. Step-great grandfather of Raven, Lincoln, Stuart, Sara, Amanda, Tylor, Vanessa, Hayley, Jennifer and Tyson. Elwood was able to see and hold his great-great granddaughters, Madeleine Fairman and Quinn Jones. Son of the late Clare and Maud (Tuck) Jones. Predeceased by all of his brothers Charlie, Alan (Ruby), Harry (Myrtle), Lyle (surviving wife Audrey), Ralph (Reta) and infant brother, Joe. Elwood will be missed by Gail Jones (mother of Sabrina & Colton), Theresa Douglas (mother of Carson & Maya), Glenna Mintha (mother of Derek & the late Michelle), sister-in-law Emma Bragg, many nieces, nephews and friends. Retired electrician from Castleton Electric Ltd. which he started in 1949. A dedicated member of Castleton Cemetery, Red Cloud Cemetery, Stewardship Program and Bluebird Society. Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital with his family by his side on Tuesday December 12, 2017 in his 83rd year.  Beloved husband of Sandra Reisch (nee DeGuire). Loving father of Jeffrey (Brenda), Adele Banning (Tim), Elizabeth Boswell (Dave) and Andrew (Natalie).  Cherished grandfather of Jeremy, Ian, Henry, Aaron and the late Alison. Dear Brother of Barbara Goodwin (Terry), Michael (Ileana), Juliane Wilbee (Jim) and the late Alex.

Sebastian dedicated his life to his family and educating young minds in Mathematics and Computer Science at Clarke High School in Newcastle.  His passion was teaching computer science and later in his career he became a computer consultant for the teachers throughout Northumberland County.  He enjoyed the outdoors and moved his young family to a farm to experience country living. He will remain forever in our hearts.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at 10:00 am, followed by a reception at MacCoubrey Funeral Home.  The family plans to intern Sebastian at St. Michael’s Cemetery.  Many thanks to the Golden Plough Lodge and the Northumberland Hills Hospital staff for their outstanding care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children at Risk (supporting autism) (childrenatrisk.ca).

Damn you Cancer.  One more life taken too soon.  David Edgar Harris loved by his wife Christine (nee Griffin) with all her heart. Suddenly at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Thursday November 30th, 2017 in her 78th year.  Beloved wife of Jack Bethune for 60 years.  Loving mother of Cheryl Sutherland (Dave), Darcy Reid (Bob) and John Bethune (Dawn).  Cherished grandmother of Katie (Ryan), John (Elizabeth), Michelle (Phil), Adam (Megan), Shane, Jordan, Bobby, Charlette (Josh), Jason (Tineke), Terry, and Emanuel and great grandmother of Mason, Brooklyn, Lilly, Leah, Shane, Ryan Olivia, Haley, Emily and Jack.  Diane is pre-deceased by her sister Joan. A 34 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11. POULTER: Charles Frederick Theodore “Ted”

Peacefully at Extendicare in Cobourg on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, Ted Poulter at 97 years of age.  Beloved husband of Ann Poulter (nee McCart) and the late Jean Poulter (nee McPhee).  Loving father of Christine (Martin Loney), John (Kim), Will (Cynthia), and the late Michael.  Cherished grandfather of Suzanne, Amy (Paul), Bradley (Hilary), Maxwell, Charlotte, and great grandfather of Millie and Jesse.  Brother of the late Patricia.  Dear uncle of Brian (Helen) and the late Barb (Jack).  In his early years Ted trained during WWII as a pilot with RCAF.  He was granted an Honourary Doctorate by the University of Toronto for his pioneering work in bringing professional pastoral counselling training to Canada.  He and Ann shared a passion for sailing.  Cremation with a Memorial Service to be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E in Cobourg on Monday, December 4th at 1:30 pm.  A reception will follow in the funeral home reception centre. Peacefully at home on Saturday, November 25, 2017, Larry Bruce McIntosh, age 65 years. Larry will be deeply missed by his loving family, wife, Deirdre (Acton); sons, Devin (Rhonda), Brendan (Lacey), and Colin (Jessica); and cherished grandchildren, Daragh, Lucas, Alexa, and Addisyn.  All who knew Larry will carry fond memories, including his many family members and friends. After 21 years of dedicated service to Trinity College School, he will be remembered as a warm and caring colleague and friend. Passed away peacefully on November 27, 2017 in her 71st year at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, surrounded by her loved ones.  Dearly beloved wife and best friend of Richard, loving mother of Nancy Love.  Leslie was pre-deceased by her parents Rob Dewar, mother Jane (nee Curtis) and sister Krista, survived by sisters Signey and Lisa.  Leslie was born in Omemee Ontario and grew up in Montreal, Quebec.  She will be greatly missed by friends and family in Northumberland County, Toronto, Montreal, Oakville, New Brunswick, London Ontario, London England, County Cork Ireland and across the USA.  Leslie’s positive caring loving outlook on life and that special smile will be missed by all.  Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life gathering at the Best Western, Cobourg in ballroom B on Friday December 1st, 2017 from 2-5 pm.  Special thanks to doctors Broderick, Amin, Pepper, Xi, Ibrahim, Vaughan and Parravano and the wonderful nursing staff on 2B at Northumberland Hills Hospital.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
