TOMPKINS, Corky of Sarnia

Posted by on February 22, 2018

TOMPKINS, CORKY – Clitheroe (Corky) Wellington Tompkins at the age of 87 fell asleep in death to await a resurrection to a paradise earth. He loved this hope and talked about it to anyone with a listening ear. Knowing Corky meant you knew of his favourite place on earth, Biscotasing. Born and raised in the ‘bush’ with endless tales of exploration, hard work, cutting ice from the lake and friendships. He made sure his family experienced the north and encouraged our love of it. He also spent time working in the mines at Inco as a Millwright and also as a Stationary Engineer in chemical valley. Corky loved to talk shop and had an incredible memory of every incident at work. He was the beloved and best friend of his wife Faith. He was predeceased by his daughter Betty Ann Tompkins and his grandson Luke O’Reilly. He was the dear father to Brenda Williams (Steve), Bruce Tompkins (Lilly), Mark Tompkins (Junior), Cheryl Tompkins, Glendon Tompkins (Judy), Melissa Tompkins and Amy Tompkins (Stirling). He loved to brag that he had 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Corky was a generous and kind person. So much so that it kept his heart strong many years after ‘the best before date’. The family would like to thank Dr. Madison and the St. Joseph’s Hospice. Also special thanks to Joe Roy who called Corky every day and Rod Sewell who was a good and steadfast friend. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 24 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 550 Murphy Road, Sarnia Ontario. Donations can be made to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Canada or St Joseph’s Hospice, 475 Christina Street North, Sarnia Ontario. The arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. CONWAY: Rose Marie of Cobourg Ontario

Posted by on February 14, 2018

Surrounded by family and love, Rose passed away on Friday, February 9th after 7 months of living with breast cancer, and 49 years of being awesome.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Lucille Conway.  She is already missed more than words can say by her husband Tim and her beautiful daughter Jessie, and her doggo, Mickey. Rose is survived by her brother Tom and his children. This loss will be felt deeply by many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Conway and Lacombe side of the family. Rose was a cherished sister in law and aunt to the Linehan/Massimo clan. Rose’s loss will be mourned by countless friends far and wide including her best friends from Vankleek Hill and her St. Mary’s school family. For 25 years, Rose taught her students to love learning, and especially to experience the joy you get from playing a musical instrument. Although our family is feeling this loss deeply, it means so much to know that it is being shared with our school family.

Rose loved gardening, yoga, walking Mickey and teaching, but most of all, Rose loved Jessie more than anything in the world. The sun rose and set for her and being Jessie’s Mama was pure joy for Rose.
