94 years, passed away at Sun Parlor Home in Leamington on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Devoted husband of Marilyn (nee Bishop) (passed Jan 18, 2017) for 69 years. Son of the late William and Olive Whaley. Dear father of Carol Ives, Leamington, Brian (Angie) North Bay, Darl, Victoria B.C. and the late Mark. Adored grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Survived by twin sisters, Doreen Scratch (late Hugh) and Eleanor Laramie (late Bub). Predeceased by siblings Alfred (Joyce), Rex (Kay), and Edith Bride (George). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Murray was a past Grand Steward of the Xenophon Wheatley Masonic Lodge. Murray is the last member of the 14 founders of the Wheatley Talbot Trail Golf Course. On Monday, April 16, 2018, at Strathroy-Middlesex General Hospital, John Douglas Thomson, of West Lorne, peacefully passed away at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Ruth Thomson (née Schnekenburger).  Loving father of Dale (Betty) Thomson, Sherry Thomson (Peter Wiles) and Cindy (Mike) Campbell.  Cherished grandfather of Rob (Heather) Thomson, Pete (Stephanie) Thomson, Jennifer (Terry) Lee, Shaun Arvai, Justina (Ricardo) Marques and Scott (April) Campbell.  Proud great-grandfather of Addyson and Nolan Lee and Haylie Marques.  Survived by his sister Shirley Lyons.  Survived also by nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Norman Thomson and Verna (née Martin).  John and Ruth proudly owned and operated Thomson’s Menswear in West Lorne for over 60 years.  A private family visitation was held followed by interment in Gillies Cemetery.  A private Memorial Service was held at the Bobier Villa, Dutton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.

Folkert and Aafke were married in Canada in April 9, 1954. Dear father of Clarence (Peggy) of London and their children Derek (Andrea), Bill, Carla; John of Appin and his children Heather and Michelle; Patricia Koster of Palmerston and her children Marlene (Nick) and Donna; Diana Okkema (Mark) of Chatham and their children Rachael, Darren (Trish), Daniel and Andrew (Jennifer); Annette Keay of Strathroy and her children Donnie (Andrea) and Miranda; Janet Butts (Charlie) of Strathroy and their children Christina (Shawn) and Joseph and Jerry (Susan) of Chatham.

On April 16, 2018, after a short battle with cancer, the Lord in His infinite wisdom relieved John Jongbloed of all his earthly struggles and pain in his 71st year. He is survived by his dear wife of 45 years, Ann and his beloved children Bryan and Karen Jongbloed, Kerri and Andrew Jans, Michelle and Allan Brouwer and Emily and Chad Laprise. He is treasured by his 16 grandchildren Hailey, Brayden, Joel, Kaitlyn, Sean, Caleb, Ethan and Alyvia Jongbloed; Jakob, Nathaneal and Mika Jans; Owen, Noah, Ezra and Eliot Brouwer and Faith Laprise. He is also survived by his sister Amy Jongbloed and brothers Dewey and Diane, Henry and Tammy and Albert and Tracy. On Monday, April 16, 2018, Nina May Hurdle (née Dill) peacefully passed away at Babcock Community Care Centre, Wardsville, in her 88th year.  Survived by her husband, Edgar Hurdle of Chelsey Park, London and sister-in-law, Shirley Ross.  Predeceased by her parents William and Lillie Dill and brothers and sisters; Bruce Dill, Florence Moore, Isabel Ripley, Gladys Shipley, Frank Dill, Alma Leitch, Elva Pattison and Alice Paterson.  Nina will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their extended families.  Nina worked many years as a registered nurse and was also always very active in local church and community activities.  Special thanks to the caregivers at Babcock for their skills and dedication.  Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m.  Interment of ashes in McLean-Purcell Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Four Counties Hospital Foundation or Babcock Resident Council.

Cherished son of the late John William and Lois Bedford (nee Allen). Brother of Robert (Karen). Beloved husband of Pauline (nee Leeson) and the late Beverly (nee Card). Loving father of Stephanie, Jennifer (Gabriel) and Allison (Trevor). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Erin, Clare, Lauren, Isaak (Kasey Ann), Jason and great granddaughter Teagan. Always missed by his nephew Robbie (Lindsay) and niece Jennie.

Allen was an educator for over 40 years both in Canada and United States. He loved working with wood to make things for family and friends. Allen loved to explore the world and visit his grandchildren wherever they were stationed. He always got excited to go on a new adventure, such as a vacation or a cruise. Allen was active in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Masonic Knights Templar, and Shriners.

Tjeerd “Jerry” Ytsma passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 in his 96th year. Jerry was born in Assen, the Netherlands in 1922; son of the late Tjeerd Ystma and Trijntje Zwarts. He immigrated to Chatham, Ontario in 1954 and married Cornelia Lea Ytsma (nee Nicolai) in 1954. Survived by his three sons Ron and his wife MaryLynn, Harold and his Partner Wilma Wilmott, and Michael and his wife Diana, all of Chatham. Predeceased by his brothers Jelle (1989), Anne (2006), Frans (2009) all of the Netherlands, and Albert (2010) of Chatham, Ontario. Sadly missed by his four grandchildren Matthew (Tanya), Sarah (Brian), Chad (Ferren), and Cory. Great Opa to Hailey, Nathan, Olivia, Emily, Maximus, and Landen. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Chatham. Mr. Ytsma serve with the Dutch army in Indonesia. Jerry was employed for 30 years at Lloyd Bag Factory, up until his retirement in 1988. For 12 years Jerry was a volunteer driver for the Meals on Wheels program. MacKELLAR, Mildred M. – Our mom passed away on Thursday April 5th, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Ken of 68 years and her parents Mary L. Neilson and Merritt H. Neilson. Survived by her loving kids Beth Hunter, Kathy (Ted) Holmes, Sandy (Phil) Countryman, Dugal (Faith) MacKellar. Grandkids Chad (Cheryl) Hunter, Eric (Jaimie) Hunter, Meghan (Dallas) Urivin, Pat (Tara) Holmes, David Countryman, Lisa (Gary) St. Pierre, Ashley (Casey) Stover, Cody (Julia MacKellar). 15 Great Grandkids and one on the way. Son in law Don (Linda) Hunter. Brothers Roger (Late Cherie) Neilson, Garry (Betty) Neilson. Sister Donna (Late Pat) Gannon and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a member of Sprucedale United Church. Mom enjoyed playing her keyboard organ for many years, gardening, reading, needlepoints, quilting, puzzles, and having her family around her. Lots of family get togethers over the years, so many laughs and great memories. In past years mom was a bookkeeper at  Wheels Motor Inn and Ford Equipment in Chatham and so enjoyed her work there. We know Dad and “Jesse” will take good care of our mom. They are all together now and we miss them all so very much. Special Thanks to Dr. Bailey, staff at CKHA, neighbours and Rev. Paul McPhail for his prayers for our Mom. At Mom’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. Ada passed peacefully into her new life on April 2, 2018, 93 yrs young. Reunited with her beloved husband Patrick (2008). Loving mother of Beverley (Doug) Nantais; Kathy (Dennis) Malott; Dan (Anne) Shea. Special grandma to Anne Marie Nantais (Fabio Volante); Amy (Dhivo) Krishnathasan; Scott Nantais (Carrie Smith); Crystal (Joey) DiStefano; David Malott (Jess Gerstman) Patrick, Emily and Ryan Shea. Great-grandma to Reese, Will, Alex, Max, Kylie and Presley. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Annie Peters and by sister Marjorie Arsenault and survived by her siblings Phyllis Gallant and Ralph (Velda) Peters as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom loved travelling, reading, knitting, and discussions about current events but most of all she loved her family. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 2pm until the time of her service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 4pm. Private entombment in Heavenly Rest Cemetery at a later date. Passed away peacefully in the presence and love of family and friends on April 1, 2018 in Windsor, ON at the age of 70 years. Beloved husband of 46 years to Judy. Loving father of Mark (Mac) (Mandy Girard). Cherished brother of Mariangela Scotella (Sam), Madeline Rado (late Chris), and Evelyn (Lulu) Marossey (Richard). Ernie will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially his best friend Joe Papineau and his wife Susan. Ernie was retired after having run a very successful restaurant business at Lelli’s in Detroit. Ernie was well loved by all who knew him and he loved deeply. He was a mentor who left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ernie was well known for his vivacious personality and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. It is with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our mom at age 95, on March 30, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Antonio (1967). Loving mother of Ben & Aida, Lolita & Ben Gray, Rebecca, Elizabeth & Alexander Gale and predeceased by Remy, Romulo and Lily. Loving “Lola” to 11 grandchildren: Ben Jr., Anthony, Monica, Royce, Shirley, Neil, Christopher, Allan, Kimberly, Cheryl and Glorrine. As well as 13 great grandchildren: Kyle, Kevin, Charlie, Nicholas, Wilson, Hannah, Olin, Anna, Allan, Kinsley, Olivia, Solena and Shelley.
