Our Dad, Kenneth Dougald MacKellar, passed away on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017. Survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Mildred and his 4 children, Beth Hunter, Kathy (Ted) Holmes, Sandy (Phil) Countryman, and Dugal (Faith) MacKellar; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; son-in-law Don (Linda) Hunter, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Erle and Rita MacKellar; siblings Neil MacKellar, Audrey Fenton, Shirley Ball; nephew Jeff Ball and Dad’s very special friend “Jesse.” Dad was a Veteran of the Navy, a member of Sprucedale United Church, Jaycee Senator, Legion member, member of the telephone pioneers, and retired from Bell Canada. In his early yeas Kenneth enjoyed being a pig farmer, and in later years walking his dog Jesse. A special thanks to Dr. Huffman, Dr. Dubuff and the staff of the Chatham-Kent Hospice for your compassionate care to our Dad and family. Thanks also to the medical staff at C.K.H.A. and neighbours who helped our Dad along his way. At Dad’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Reunited with his beloved wife Pat (2017).  Dear father of Bonnie (Fred Teno), Russell, Deborah Donaldson (Ron), Catherine, Bill (Linda Bianchi), Barbara (the late Darren Glass, 2013).  Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey, Jason, Melanie, Ryan, Erin, Holly, Andy and Graham.  Great-grandfather of 4; Ella, Hunter, Chase and Sawyer.  Dear brother of John and Arlene Britton.  Brother in-law of the late Warren Tobin (1981) and Jerome Tobin (2009).   Survived by many nieces and nephews.  Former trustee of Riverside Separate School and F.J. Brennan High School Boards. Former member and instructor of the Lumen Institute (The Christopher Leadership Course), former member of Ste. Rose Parish Council, member and former Director of Beach Grove G. & C.C. Member of the Executive Committee of Assumption University Alumni Association, President of the Probus Club of Windsor-Essex Ontario, Alumnus of Assumption College (B.A. 1946) and University of Detroit Mercy (B. M.E. 1949). Recipient of Rev. E.C. LeBel C.S.B. Award  from Assumption University on May 13, 2011. Employed by The Detroit Edison Co. (now DTE Energy) May 1947 – Jan. 1989. HOMORODEAN: Nick of Strathroy, Ontario

Nick (Nicolae) Homorodean has left his earthly home to join his Father in Heaven on Saturday, March 25th in the year of our Lord, 2017 at the age of 89, of Strathroy, Ontario.  Nick was born at Ford City, Windsor, Ontario and came to Strathroy at the age of 7.  He had a sister Mary and a brother Cornell.  Nick’s father had a shoe repair shop and at the age of 19 his father needed Nick to come and work.  Nick retired at 75.  He served the community for 56 years.  He attended the First Baptist Church, Strathroy, taught a class of boys, was Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast Group and also a deacon for many years.  Nick married Lillie McDonald on September 20th, 1950 and they had a family of 5.  Peter, Holly, Sandra, Andy and Donna.

We lived at 80 Thomas Street, Strathroy for 66 years.  Nick attended Strathroy District School until grade 11.  Nick played hockey with the first Rocket Hockey Team in Strathroy.

Lovingly remembered by his wife Lillie (McDonald), his children Peter, Holly (Bryan) Barclay, Sandra (Jeff) McKinnon, Andy, Donna Wilton (Glyn Knapman), his grandchildren Natacha, Tanya, Jevon, Taylor and Jayme and his great grandchildren Amber and Jevon Jr.  Survived by his brother Cornell (Isabel) and brother in law John A. McDonald (Karen).  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sister Mary McElwain (Rev. Bill).

Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where a funeral service will take on Thursday at 11 am.  Interment to follow at Strathroy cemetery.

QUINLAN: Wilma of Strathroy

Wilma Quinlan (nee Tyssen)

Surrounded by the love of family, Wilma passed away on March 24, 2017. She was born in Neerkant, Netherlands and, after living through World War II, she and her family immigrated to Canada in 1950. She graduated from business college and after moving to Strathroy began working as a legal secretary, where she met her first husband, Arthur Quinlan. Together they had four children: Elizabeth (Dan Dooley), Arthur (Charlene Quinlan), Patricia (Pat Fehr) and Caroline (Allan Norman). Arthur predeceased her in 1978, and in 1991 she married Bud Lennox, who predeceased her in 2001.

She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Alana Stickland (husband Scott), Caroline Dooley (fiancé Adeel Ahsan), Greg Quinlan, Tim Dooley, Steven Norman, Micah Fehr, Allison Norman and Sarah Fehr, along with one great-grandson, Gregory Stickland. Survived by her sister Helena van der Burg and brother Hubert (Mimi) Tyssen.

She is predeceased by her parents Eimericus and Anna Maria Tyssen, her sister Mia and her brothers Henk, John and Pierre Tyssen.

Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Monday, March 27th, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Canadian Lung Association may be forwarded through Denning’s of Strathroy.

Passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu Grace Health Care – Emara Complex on March 25, 2017 at 92 years of age.  Beloved husband of 65 years to Betty E. Ives (nee Harris).  Loving father of Douglas and wife Cindy Ives, Kathryn and husband Gregory Rutherford of Tennessee, and Joanne and husband Dan Cerovec of Michigan.  Son of the late Walter (1963) and Gertie (1981).  Cherished grandfather of Tania Rutherford (Tennessee), David & wife Jacquie Ives, Mark Ives & Paulina Wojcik, Danielle Cerovec, and Adrian Cerovec (all of Windsor).  Also survived by his aunt Frances Emerson who is 103 years of age and many cousins.  Predeceased by his cousin Linda Tell (2014).  Formerly employed by Ontario Hydro, now Hydro One.  Member of the Eastern Star Imperial Chapter # 21, Masonic Lodge # 290 Leamington, Historic Vehicle Society, SWO Heritage Village (Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village), Corvair Club, Nash Club, Algonquin Club, and the Border City Amateur Radio Club.  He was also a dedicated volunteer of John R. Park Homestead and the Windsor Goodfellows.  Albert’s hobby was woodworking, owning and driving his antique cars, gardening and being a friend to everyone while bowling and golfing.  Special thanks to the staff of C.C.A.C., especially Stephanie, Brad, John and Katie, and the doctors and staff of the Hospice of Windsor (Emara Complex). Dear father of Sherry Gaudette, Brett and wife Diane, and predeceased by Maurice (1997, survived by Lorrie). He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 9865. Moe was a craftsman who enjoyed woodworking. He will always be remembered for his generosity and giving spirit. It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Andrew Brewer with his family by his side on March 20, 2017 at the age of 26. Beloved son of Mary Brewer. Loving brother of Adrian Brewer. May was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Frederick Cowan (1940-1986) and the late William Eede (1990-2000). May is survived by her four sons and only daughter, Tom Cowan (Joanne), Larry Cowan (Marjorie), all of Mt. Brydges; Robert Cowan (Ruby), Kingsville; Dale Cowan (Karon), Embro; Nancy Kettle (Larry), Leamington. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, Chad & Julie (Samantha & Sydney), Cori & Paul (Molly & Katie), Chris & Heather (McKenna & Easton), Kyle & Martha (Audrey), Ryan & Melissa (Ethan & Reese), Renata & Ryan (Cooper & Dawson), Julia & Eric (Isabella), Lisa & Adam, Jeremy, Matt & Holly (Brinley & Harper). It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Giovanni Conte on March 19, 2017 surrounded by his family at 80 years of age. Cherished husband of Lucia (nee Di Pronio) for 57 years. Giovanni was a loving father to Anna and husband Claudio Mancini, and Tonino and wife Barbara Conte. Devoted nonno to Valentino (Melissa) Mancini, Luciano (Karissa) Mancini, Claudia (Jaime Welwood) Mancini, Giovanni Conte, Silvio Conte, and Vanessa Conte. Adored  bis-nonno to Talia Mancini.  Predeceased by his loving parents Donato and Maria-Lucia Conte.  Beloved son in-law of the late Paolo and Maria Di Pronio. Cherished brother of the late  Emidio  and Chiarina Conte, the late Antonio Conte (Italy),Bartolomeo (Santina) Conte, Angelina (Emidio) Menna, Assunta and the late Rocco D’Alimonte. Dearest brother-in-law of Salvatore and Linda Di Pronio (Italy).  Giovanni is survived by many family members throughout Canada and Italy.  Giovanni was born in Roccamorice Italy, immigrated to Canada in 1966 and was a dedicated family man who enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. Giovanni was a valued retired employee at Weston Bakery, and he also found great joy in completing small tasks around his home. He was an active member of the Giuseppe Verdi Club in Amherstburg. Along with enjoying visits with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, he loved to watch Western movies. The family sincerely appreciated the care Giovanni received during his stay at Richmond Terrace in Amherstburg, especially from the nurses and PSW workers on the third floor west. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and friends from Windsor, Toronto, Vancouver and Italy. Nanna lived for her family and her eyes lit up when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. MOORE, Phllis (Kaye) of Corunna, Ontario

MOORE, Phyllis (Kaye) – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious Phyllis on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 12:50 a.m. She succumbed from complications after a fall at her home in Corunna. She died peacefully at Bluewater Health. Phyllis was in her 110th year and enjoying good health.
Phyllis was born in Bracebridge, Ontario to John Byron Kaye and Charlotte Eliza (Leith) Kaye on Nov. 6, 1907. She was the last remaining member of a family of ten children. Phyllis was a member of the United Church in Bracebridge and Sarnia and attended Central United in Sarnia for many years.
Dearly treasured and lovingly remembered by four nieces and one nephew. Phyllis was an aunt, a great aunt, a great-great aunt and a great-great-great aunt.
Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving family, her good friend Roy, and her many wonderful friends and cherished neighbours.

Robinet, Vivian Marie (nee Van Lare)

Passed away peacefully on March 18, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife of more than 60 years of the late Philias. Loving mother of Susan (the late Bill Fowler) and Larry (Laurel). Adored Mimi of Joel (Gisele), Jeremy (Taylor), Alicia (André Cormier), Angela, Hannah. Cherished great-grandmother of Luc and Eddie, Preston, and Evelyn. Dear sister of the late Jerry, Vic, and Evelyn. Vivian will be fondly remembered by her extended family, nieces and nephews in both the Van Lare and Robinet families. She was privileged to care for others at Riverview Hospital for many years. Vivian was a talented singer and faithful member of the choir at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church. She was devoted to her family and shared her faith in God as well as her pride in her Belgian heritage throughout her life. Many thanks to her caregivers from Southgate Rest Home, Kingsville, and Leamington Hospital. Donations will be graciously accepted for the Hospice of Erie Shores, who provided exceptional care and compassion in her final days, or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Visitation will be Friday 3-5pm and 7-9pm with Parish Prayers at 4:30pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Peacefully, on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, Patricia Fischer passed away at the age of 76.  She will be remembered by her spouse, Eugene Bright and his children; Paula McMillan and Melony Bright.  Cherished by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  Patricia will be remembered for her gentle and loving personality and will be sorely missed.  Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF WEST LORNE, 202 Main Street, West Lorne (519-785-0810) on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m.  Cremation to follow.  The family wishes to acknowledge the medical team at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital for the care they have shown to Patricia.  Memorial donations may be made, payable by cheque, to the MS Society of Canada.

SETHI: Ratna, of Glencoe

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Four Counties Health Services, Ratna Sethi, passed away at the age of 83.  Predeceased by her beloved husband Paul (1991).  She will be forever cherished and remembered by her daughter, Sony of Glencoe, and son, Ranjeev and his wife Mayuri of Burlington.  She will be missed by members of her extended family near and far.  Ratna was a strong, loving and caring lady and a role model to all who knew her.  In keeping with her wishes, her body has been donated to science.  A Memorial Service will be held at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Saturday, March 25, 2017 commencing at 11 a.m.  A time of reception will follow.  The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Four Counties Health Services for providing a warm and comforting environment and for their kindness and care shown to Ratna during her time at the hospital.  Donations in memory of Ratna may be made, payable by cheque, to Heart and Stroke Foundation, or The Caring Cupboard, Rodney.

Taylor, Arthur Franklin

Art passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 15, 2017 at 89 years of age.  He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 67 years, Gladys (nee Letourneau).  Loving father of Tim & wife Pam, Cathy & husband Ted, Chris & wife Doris, Matt & wife Mary.   Cherished Grandpa of Dana Taylor, Tammy Biscan, Jacques Laframboise (Jill), Justin Laframboise (Jenn), Michelle Oldridge (Shawn), Kristi Boughner (Brad), Chris & Katie Taylor.  Much beloved Great-Grandpa of Jordyn Renaud-Boughner, Kylie and Madelyn Oldridge.  Son of the late Viola and Lionel Taylor and survived by his brother George.  Art will be sadly missed by many sister & brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Art retired from Chrysler Canada, Labour Relations after 40 years of service.  He was  president of Riverside Minor Hockey Association for many years and a member of the K of C Council #4924.  Art devoted his life to caring for his family, leaving us with many great memories to cherish.  He was so very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were his pride and joy.  He was active until his very last day, always helping others in any way he could.

Legault, Lucien “Lou”

On March 16, 2017 at 93 years of age.  Loving husband of the late Germaine (nee Thievierge).  Cherished father of the late Lise and husband Michel Breault.   Beloved grandpa of Denis Breault. Dearest son of the late Isidore and Ida Legault. Dear brother of Florien husband of the late Cecil Legault, Jeannine wife of the late Clifford Burnell, the late Eugene and late wife Lola Legault, late Jacqueline wife of Rene Davidson, Richard and wife Isabelle Legault, Reynald and wife Loraine Legault.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Lou retired in 1982 from Canada Post as Manager of the downtown office.  Lou was very active with R.C.L. Branch #143; two time president, awarded the Meritorious Service Medal-1970, Life Membership-1979, Palm Leaf to Meritorious Medal-1989, past president of the Cerebral Palsy Association Windsor, and Essex County Sports Association.  He was also a member of Club 55.  Lou was WWII Veteran with the Canadian Air Force.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 4pm and a Windsor Veteran’s Memorial Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran’s Memorial Service Committee 7:30pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Farrah, Irvin Thomas

On March 14, 2017 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Beverly (2002). Much loved and dearest father of Jody and husband Larry Rodgers, Tom and wife Susan Farrah. Proud grandfather of Kristen (Drew), Sarah (Brett), Tate, Presleigh and Brady. Cherished great-grandfather of Harper and Ben. Dear companion and friend of Lillian George and family. Son of the late Adele and Thomas Farrah. Survived by brother Don. Predeceased by brothers Joe (Sis) and Leon. Survived by sister-in-law Delores. Irvin will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a kind and generous man. Irvin’s sense of humour and his stories will live on forever. In his younger years he was an accomplished sportsman playing basketball for Ford Office Juniors and Assumption College. Always an avid sports fan, in particular his life-long commitment to the Cubs. He enjoyed a number of Grey Cup games from coast to coast with friends in the Club Eight Plus Two. In retirement, Irvin enjoyed spending many winters with his family in McKinney, Texas. He had a passion for gardening and landscaping.

Our family is thankful to the staff and residents of Kensington Court for their care and friendship and to the doctors, nurses and staff at WRH-Ouellette Campus who cared for our father.
