Peacefully, surrounded by her family at Vision Nursing Home. Lina Cata passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Elio Cata (1985). Loving mother to Sandro (Christine) Cata, Cathy (Tom) Cimetta, and Rob Cata. Loving Nonna to Nick Cata and Melissa (Tyler) David and Amanda and Michael Cimetta. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy. Predeceased by her parents Luigi and Ginevra Finocchietti and seven sisters. Lina was born in Fermo, Italy and in 1957, leaving her parents and sisters, she immigrated to Canada after marrying her “caro” dear Elio. She was a master seamstress and practised her craft for over 30 years out of her home, altering and creating beautiful pieces of clothing. Faith and family were of utmost importance to Lina and she centred her life around both. She was a longtime faithful member of St Peter’s Church and was a member and past president of the Catholic Women’s League. In her retirement years, Lina enjoyed going to Tim Horton’s on Saturday afternoons and bridge fries during the summer months. Watching her grandchildren grow up into mature young adults gave her much joy. Lina has left her family with many fond memories to be cherished forever. Lina’s wish was to stay in her own home as long as possible. Until a recent fall, she was able to do so. The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and Dr Gannon at Vision Nursing Home for their above and beyond level of care and attention shown to our mother. They would also like to thank the nurses on the 5th floor of Bluewater Health for their care of mom earlier this year.
