It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond Cameron on December 30, 2018 at the age of 82 years old.

Ray was born in Mabou, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia but relocated at early age for gainful employment in the mines of northern Ontario.  Ray lived most of his adult life with Timmins as his home base.  His work in mines across Canada allowed him to provide for his family and earned him his reputation as an incredibly hard and fearless worker.  Ray ended his days in Ottawa, surrounded by family and friends. His love for Cape Breton and the farm he worked in Mabou as a young boy was ever present.

Ray is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 37 years Claudette Cameron, and his children Phemie (Denis) LaRue, Cindy (Steve) Ellis, Laurieanne (Brian) Evans, Marlene Othmer (Marc LeBeau), Nancy Othmer (Shane Barclay), Trish Othmer (Carlo Matulich).

Ray was the absolute best Grandfather to Ray (Angele), Justin (Leah), Sara (Jaime), Alexandria (Zach), Amanda (Richard), Tyler, Mitchell (Meagan), Madison and Mackenzie. Ray was also blessed to have been the Great-Grandfather to Patrick, Alyssa, Camryn, Abigail, Payton, Kendell, Macey, Ava-Lee, Emma, Ivy-Rae, Tamara, Kaiden and Taylor.

Ray is survived by his sisters Rita, Gennie, Margaret, Anne and Patricia, and his brothers Donald and Owen. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Euphemia (Grant); sister, Mary and brothers, Alex, Lawrence, Angus, Gerald and John.

A funeral mass for Raymond will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 am, 205 Bayview Drive, in Constance Bay.  A reception will follow at 12:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 616, 377 Allbirch Rd.
