BURNS,(Sullivan) Elizabeth “Betty” – We lost a remarkable lady and our guiding force on Saturday, November 22, 2014 with the gentle passing of Betty at the age of 89 at Woodingford Lodge, with family by her side.  Beloved wife of the late Howard Burns (1993).  Predeceased by her children, Gerrard Burns (1960), Colleen Jackson (2005) and Bob Burns (2009).  Loving mother of Rita Henry (Bud) of Woodstock, Pat Burns (Denise) of Richmond Hill, Mary Glaab (Rick) of Woodstock, Howard Burns (Wendy) of Woodstock, Stephen Burns (Shannon) of Woodstock, and Cathy Burns (Garry Wigle) of London.  Sadly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Russell Sullivan (Mary) of Sault Ste. Marie.  Sister-in-law of Bill Burns and Marie MacDonald both of Woodstock.  Predeceased by her brother Henry Sullivan (2000).   Extraordinarily selfless and strong, she touched many.  A woman of faith, she believed that words and gestures made a difference, that every day was a gift.  In pursuit of her dreams, she left Nova Scotia as a new teacher to join Dad, but never forgot her rich heritage, the value of community and volunteerism.  She knew heartache, but there was joy enough to fill two lifetimes.  Though the void is huge, she’s here where it matters, in our hearts.   Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  Parish prayers will be said on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1420 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 am with Father Rick Dales as celebrant.  Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock.  If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Holy Trinity Building Fund would be appreciated.  Smith-LeRoy, (519) 537-3611.
