It is with deep sadness that her family announces the passing of Frances Louise Burleigh in the afternoon of Wednesday, September 24, 2014.  Beloved wife of the late Dr. William Burleigh.  Loving and devoted mother of Bruce Burleigh and his wife Sandra Hemsworth of Toronto and Barbara and her husband Derek Van Der Linden of Stratford.  Cherished Grandma of Lauren and Ryan Van Der Linden.  Predeceased by her brother Alex McLaren of Watford and sisters Isobel McLaren and Jean Stadelman of Toronto.  Frances was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She was born in Sarnia and raised in Watford.  She was the daughter of Adelaide McLaren (Kelly) and James Walker McLaren who owned and operated McLaren Pharmacy in Watford.  She attended the Watford High School and the University of Guelph.  Following her marriage, Frances worked for the Red Cross dental division in Massey, Ontario with her husband Bill and later worked along side him as he practiced dentistry for forty years in the city of Sarnia.  Frances was a long time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sarnia where she taught Sunday school for many years and was an elder of the church.  She was also an honorary life member of the Honorable Malcolm Cameron IODE chapter.  Frances was a loving and gracious lady who devoted herself to her family and was blessed by many life-long friendships.  She will be greatly missed.  In accordance with Frances’ wishes, cremation has taken place with interment to follow in the family plot, Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia.  A memorial service to celebrate Frances’ home-going was held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 261 Christina Street North, Sarnia, on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow for family and friends at Smith Family Centre (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia.  Memorial donations in honour of Frances may be made to the Sarnia Lambton Children’s Aid Society or Harmony for Youth (cheques only at the funeral home please).
