BUDGELL, Alexander Robert “Al” or “Alec” – Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Al of Lakefield, in his 69th year. Al was the beloved son of the late Elizabeth (nee Hamilton) and Bramwell Budgell. Loving father of Kimberly (Robert Bradbury), Stephen (Bev Dutoff), Elizabeth (Jason Rendell) and the late Tanya. Step-father of Katrina (Charles Welch) and adopted father of Krysta, Tanya and Josh. Dear grandfather of Sarah, Jacob, Alison, Holly, Livia and Aiden. Beloved brother of Jack (Sandra), David (Barbara), Ian (Brenda), Karen (Keith Hickman), Andrew (Ruth), Peter (Josee), Eddy (Brenda), Frazer (Judy), Paul (Glenda), Russell (Charlene), Carolyn (Garf Harnum) and the late Keith and Allison. Al will also be remembered by Cynthia Leuvernik, Chris Budgell and many other relatives and friends. Born in Bishop’s Falls, NL, Alec moved to the Toronto area in 1969 and worked in Toronto, Orangeville and Shelbourne. On moving to Newmarket he opened his own printing business, “Kriss Print” before moving to Peterborough where he worked at “Printer Paul” until his health began to fail. Al was an avid fisherman and loved to golf. He was an excellent guitar player, mostly playing in the various churches he attended. His ready smile and wit will be remembered. Even in his sickest days, Al was very seldom feeling down. On learning he had Cancer Alec voluntarily took part in a Clinical Trial on a new Drug they were evaluating for the treatment of his type of Cancer. Even though the drug failed to cure him, it is Al’s hope that his participation in the trial may help with finding a cure for Cancer in the future. Cremation entrusted to COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME. Cremated remains will be taken home to Bishop’s Falls, NL.
