Passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the age of 71, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Loving and devoted father to Alice. Predeceased by his wife Carol [Simpson] in 1983. As the oldest child, he leaves behind brother Kerry and wife Anne Marie and brother Patrick and wife Maureen. Michael will join his parents – Marjorie [Grannie] (1997) and George [Buppy] (2004) Brode; and his in-laws Kathryn [Grandma Cass] (1979) and Thomas [Papa] (1990) Simpson in heaven. Michael worked for 30+ years at the City of Windsor and retired in 2003. Throughout his life, he constantly read novels, magazines & newspapers daily, travelled around the world, and had a passion for history (Ph. D.)  He was active for most of his life by running & walking long distances and working in the yard at his country home. He will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A special thanks is extended to all of Michael’s caregivers for the past 3 years. Visitation on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Prayers at 7:30 pm at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. Essex, On Saturday, friends are invited to meet the family after 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish (St. William site) in Emeryville followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 am.
