BirdLarryPeacefully and surrounded by his family at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on the 22nd day of June 2013 in his 68th year.

Devoted father of Lon Issac Bird and daughter-in-law, Sherry Bird.  Grandfather of Asha-Lynn and Diesel Lee Bird.  Beloved brother of Rosalie Bird, Barry Bird (Debbie), Loxi Street (Dalton), Randy Bird (Joanne), Aurelie Moinet (Jan), and Gerry Bird (Sandra).  Son of the late Hazel and Tommy Bird of Harwood.

Larry was a friend to all who knew him, whether it was from his work in recent years at Cobourg Home Hardware, his previous career at Strapex, or his volunteer work with local art and conservation groups.   A skilled naturalist, Larry had a passion for reading, writing, painting, forestry, gardening, and Canadian history. He was a friend to all who knew him, and was always willing to lend a hand or share his vast knowledge of an amazing variety of topics.

Those who wish to remember and pay tribute to Larry are invited to a “Celebration of Life” at the Harwood Community Hall on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 5 – 9 p.m.  Memories will be shared at 7:00 p.m.  Refreshments and a light supper will be served.  Memorial donations may be made to the Lone Pine Marsh Sanctuary (http://www.lonepinemarsh.ca/) or to the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Hazel Bird Nature Reserve (http://www.natureconservancy.ca/en/where-we-work/ontario/news/hazel-bird-nature-reserve.html).
