BILDFELL, Johann Torfi of Sarnia, formerly of London
BILDFELL, Johann Torfi – passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. He was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel Muriel. Loving father of Ron (Louise), Laurie (Brendan Murphy) predeceased and Rob (Rosilin). Cherished grandfather of Christopher Bildfell, Gudrin Bildfell, Ciara Murphy, Tessa Murphy, Nicholas Murphy, Kristen Bildfell and Connor Bildfell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Marvin, Lawrence, Clarence, Oli, Kris and John. Predeceased by brothers Gisli and Albert and sister Valgurder.
Torfi joined the RCMP in 1940. He was stationed at Norman Wells and Yellowknife for 3 years at a time when dog sleds were the primary mode of transportation. He retired from the RCMP in 1964. Following retirement he began a career in manufacturing and invented a vehicle mounted air deflector. Torfi resided at Fairwinds Lodge for the past twelve years where he was known and respected for the compassion and care he always showed to his fellow residents. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A private family funeral service will be held on July 3, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2001 Dundas Street E., London, Ontario. Friends will be welcome for lunch at Smith Family Centre, 1576 London Line, Sarnia to celebrate Torfi’s life on July 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME.
