Born Feb.22,1929-Died June 20,2012
It is with mixed emotions that Rebecca’s family wish to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, sister and friend at Bluewater Health Cardiac Care Unit on Wednesday June 20, 2012.
Rebecca left her earthly home to rejoin the love of her life Patrick Biggs who left us in 1998. We are joyful in the knowledge that they are re-united and dancing together again to their favourite big band music.
Rebecca was born in the Falkland Islands and was the eldest of 10 children. She left home at the tender age of 13 to go to school “in town”. She became a nurse and continued her nursing career at St. Joseph’s hospital after immigrating to Canada with her family in 1957. She made many good friends most of whom have predeceased her.  Beloved mother of Robin (Brighton, England), Neil (Sarnia), David (Wallaceburg) and Valerie Walsh (Sarnia), Mother -in-law and friend to Joan Biggs (Sarnia). Much loved grandmother to Christopher Walsh and his wife Sarah Thompson, Heather Walsh and her partner John Dickie, Morgan Clarke and Dimitri Ivic. Surviving siblings are Ivan (Marion) Australia, Russell (Cathrine) England, Mary Ursell (Nottingham, England) and Judy White (Falkland Islands). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews all over the world.
Predeceased by her husband Patrick Eric Biggs, her parents Archie and Agnes Short, brothers John, Stanley and Donald, sisters Violet and Sandra, and her best friend and sister-in-law Ione Biggs.
She was a very special aunt to Bonita Gilbert, Nick, Tim and Chris Biggs and their families who were her extended family in Canada.
Rebecca will be sadly missed by her global family. Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday June 23rd, 2012 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at SMITH FUNERAL HOME (1576 London Line, Sarnia).  A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 23rd, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
