BENETEAU, Timothy Rheal – Our son died peacefully and courageously with his parents by his side at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the age of 47. Dear son of Fred & Denise Beneteau, Sarnia. Brother of Fred Beneteau, Calgary. Nephew of Peg (Ralph) Hall, Sarnia, Jackie (Roger) Ranger, Sarnia, Alan (late Jean) McEachen, Sarnia, Dianne (Serge) Gauthier, Sarnia, Sally (Bob) Scaddan, Windsor and Marie (late Ray) Labelle, Sarnia and Flo (late Ron) Labelle, Welland. Also survived by many cousins. Tim was born and raised in Sarnia and is a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. He was afflicted with Schizophrenia at an early age and lived in a group home in Ottawa prior to moving back to Sarnia in August. Tim lived his life with courage and dignity. He never gave up hope that he would get well one day. The only occasional comment he made was “I wish I could have got married and had a family like others”. Tim learned the computer and downloaded music/videos in the latter part of his life. He loved his music and went from a Walkman to MP3 players, skipping the compact disc era entirely. He made his dad several flash drives filled with his father’s favourite 1960’s music. Tim’s only weakness was his mother’s peanut butter cookies every Christmas. One of his last comments was “They can tell you how to live but they can’t tell you how to die”. He will be very much missed.  Special thanks to Dr. Glenn Maddison, the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their wonderful care of Tim during his stay there. Private funeral services are entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd, 115 John St., Sarnia, N7T 2R1 or St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. Christina St., Sarnia, N7T 5W3.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at

A tree will be planted in memory of Timothy Beneteau in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 15th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area
