Died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Wally Battle, 76 years, of Petrolia. Wally will be missed by his wife Bonnie (nee Strevel), his step-children Dennis White, Tim and Isabelle White, Jeff and Julie White, and Lisa and Randy Morningstar, his grandchildren Kay-Leigh Morningstar, Jason White, and James White, and his great grandchildren Brooklyn Morningstar and Brantley White. Wally is also survived by his brother Jack Battle and sisters Jean Crombeen, Beatrice Arnold, and Mary Lou Battle. He was predeceased his parents William and Lorene Battle, his brothers Clayton, Art, Carl, Charles, and Jim Battle and sisters Ruth Spencer, Una Mae Young, and Margaret Harper. Wally worked for 32 years for the Lambton County Board of Education as a supervisor of the custodial staff, before retiring 19 years ago. Visitors will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Robert M. Gibson officiating. Interment to follow in Hillsdale Cemetery.
