Peacefully at her residence on Saturday January 18, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, Brenda Barrington (MacGregor) of Portland, formerly of Ottawa, in her 71st year. Most beloved and dedicated wife wife of Pat Barrington. Dear mother of Derrek Bazinet (Sue Rondeau) of Ottawa and cherished grandmother of Quinn Bazinet (the apple of her eye). Adored step mother of Cathie Barrington (Andrew Deacon) of Halifax and Paul and Sean Barrington of Ottawa. Grandma ‘B’ to Alex, Anna and Avery Deacon. Predeceased by her parents, Gladys and Jim MacGregor and brother, Ronald MacGregor. Brenda lived a rich life, marked by professional success as a federal public servant with DND, PWC and Corrections Canada. Brenda had a strong connection to family and friends and a genuine love of and respect for nature and all animals. Many beautiful memories were made boating on the Big Rideau, enjoying winters in Florida, golfing with friends and global travel. Brenda had a beautiful spirit that glowed on the outside and many were blessed to share in this spirit as they enjoyed Brenda’s hospitality. The family will receive friends at the SCOTLAND FUNERAL HOME, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Columbanus Church, Elgin on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
