Bannon, Dorothy Margaret (nee Pocock) of Elgin Manor, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy illness Dear wife of the late Joseph Bannon (1991). Dearly loved mother of Maureen and her husband, Ron McCormick of St. Thomas, Brian and his wife, Nadia of Kingsville, Peter and his wife, Jeni Peyton of Woodstock and Paul and his partner, Laurie Tune of Brantford. Proud grandmother of Lisa (Brian) Vanderveen, Tim (Kate Menear) McCormick, Sarah and Joseph Bannon, Chris Bannon and Katie (Pete) Clemens, and great-grandma of Nicole, Liam, Laura and Miranda Vanderveen, Sydney and Reese McCormick and Kyree and Alora Clemens. Margaret was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her sister Mary (Howard) Johnson, brothers  Cyril (Mildred), Ron (Ann), James, Basil (Helen) Pocock and infant sister Rose Mary. She is survived by her sister-in-law Theresa Bannon. She will be sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. She is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Brenda LeSage Bannon and by her dear friend Kay Higgins. Margaret was born in London on June 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Agnes (McIntyre) Pocock. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church and a 60 year member of the Catholic Women’s League. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas for visitation Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  and then at St. Anne’s Church on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Caring Cupboard Food Bank or the charity of one’s choice.
