BALLARD, Andrew Malcolm, BSc., M.D., C.C.F.P., F.C.F.P., CMRO, CIME, peacefully passed away “Fighting the Good Fight” at the South Muskoka Algonquin Health Centre, Bracebridge, Ontario on Saturday August 10, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Andrew was the cherished and devoted husband of Gail (Elms). The proud father of Heather and Samantha. Brother of Kathryn Motolko and her husband, Dr. Michael Motolko, London, the late James Ballard (2001) and sister in law of Lou Ann Fallis Ballard, Toronto. Brother-in-law of Howard Elms and Kim Howe, St. Thomas. Affectionately remembered by his nephews, Ryan Ballard, Jeffrey Ballard, Alexander Motolko, James Elms and Dane Elms. Nieces, Kelly Motolko and Carolyn Joy Motolko. Son of the late Dr. Joy Mackinnon Ballard (1992), and son in law of George (1992) and Betty Elms (1979). Andrew was a graduate of St. Andrew’s College, Aurora, the University’s of Toronto and Western Ontario. He was dedicated to the practice of family and occupational medicine for over 25 years. Among Andrew’s numerous professional affiliations, he was the past president of the St. Thomas-Elgin Medical Association, past secretary District #2 Ontario Medical Association and board member, finance committee on Physician Services Foundations Incorporated. He loved the game of golf, skiing and cottaging in Muskoka with his family.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday, August 21st from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, August 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, Wellington St., St. Thomas on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Private interment in the family plot in St. Thomas Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances would be appreciated to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation (Chemotherapy Unit) or to the Old St. Thomas Church Restoration. Fund.
