BAKER, Mrs. Ruth M. (nee Betts) of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, November 9, 2014, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Jack W. Baker. Loving mother of Rosemary Hiem (Arthur “Bud”) of Kitchener, Nancy Visscher (Henry) of R.R.7, St. Thomas, Carol Evans (Paul) of Montréal, QC, Gordon “Sonny” Viges, Bonnie Temple, and Donna Haun, all of St. Thomas, Brenda Silversmith (Mark) of Aylmer, and the late Danny Baker (1980). Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by six sisters and three brothers. Born in Niagara Falls, ON, June 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. and Rose (nee Honeysett) Betts. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be held. Ruth’s cremated remains will be interred privately in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Vienna. If so desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society will be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
