Jere BakerBAKER, Jere S., formerly of Crescent Avenue, St. Thomas, passed away at the Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, St. Thomas on Sunday, November 3, 2013, in his 89th year.  Beloved husband for 61 years to the late Ruth (nee Flexen) Baker.  Dearly loved father of Randy Baker and his partner Janet Leslie of St. Thomas, and cherished grandfather of Eric Baker of London.  Dear brother of Joan McGill (late Neil “Jack”) of Cobourg.  Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Clifford and Bessie (nee Sage) Baker.  Jere was the former owner of C.E. Flexen Machine Co. Ltd., St. Thomas. He was a former long-time member of the St. Thomas Curling Club and the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, November 7th from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  There will be no public service.  A private family graveside service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park.  Flowers gratefully declined.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Elgin-St. Thomas will be appreciated.
