Baker, Jean of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, August 15th, 2012, at her late residence, in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Jerrold (Jerry) Baker and loved  partner of Adam Kittleberger. Dearly loved mother of Randy Baker (late Vivian (Harrietha)) (2006), Mike and Bonnie (Jones) Baker, late Jerry Baker (1983), Cindy and Eric Pandke and Susan and Terry Wilson and mother-in-law of David Wight and Jan Chambers. Dear sister of Joan Topping (twin) of St. Thomas, Maudie Scott of St. Thomas, Henry (Ruth Ann) Groves of St. Thomas, late Ernest Groves and his wife Nora Groves of Oakville and the late Alfred (late June) Groves. Much loved grandmother of Charlene Baker, Bill Baker and his wife Valeen, Nick Baker, Casey Baker, late Sheryl Baker, Christine Welch and husband Tim, Vicky O’Sullivan and her husband Bill, Greg Wight , Derek Wilson and Carley Wilson and great grandmother of  Paige and Nickolas Welch, Finn and Dax O’Sullivan and Logan Baker.  Jean was born in St. Thomas on July 9th 1935, the daughter of the late Alfred and Margret (Sheldon) Groves. She was retired from the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital where she worked as a Dietary Aide for 25 years. Jean served as Treasurer on the First executive for Minor Girls Baseball (1972-1977) she served as President for the Ladies Auxiliary St. Thomas Air Cadets 741 Squadron (1970-1972), past member and volunteer at the Senior Centre. Past member and volunteer for the Over 55 Club at the St. Thomas Legion (Branch 41), associate member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Wednesday Euchre Club at the St. Thomas Legion.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Cancer Society or charity of choice.
