Orr-Douglas of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, May 18th, 2013,at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, peacefully, in his 75th year. Son of the late Lina Orr and  father of Heather and Lorna.  Brother of Janeane and her husband Jim Everett of R.R. 4 St. Thomas. Uncle of Aaron Everett and his wife Valerie and Arika and her husband Tim Meeuse. Doug was born in St. Thomas on January 29th, 1939. He worked for the Railroad and was also a bookkeeper a number of years.

Private service. Interment of ashes in with his mother in the Old St. Thomas Churchyard Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Pets Friends for Life or Animal Aide. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.

Hanagan-Russell Stanley of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, May 18th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 69th year. Dearly loved father  of Sherri (Larry Kelsey) of St. Thomas Tammy (Dan Benko) of London and Shawn of St. Thomas. Loved son of Reta (Walker) Hanagan of St. Thomas and the late Russell Hanagan. Dear grandfather of Christopher and Taylor Lynn Hanagan and great grandfather of Cowen and Autumn Dubois. Russell was born in St. Thomas on July 30th, 1944. He was a retired custodian at W.S.Morrison Catholic School. He served in the Armed Forces and was a long time member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in South Park Cemetery. Gilmour-Richard Kenneth of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, May 17th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in his 71 year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Linda (Esseltine) Gilmour and loved father of Jeff Esseltine (Roxanne) of Tillsonburg, Liana Cox (Brian) of St. Thomas and Richard John Gilmour of St. Thomas. Predeceased by an infant daughter Tammy-Lynn Gilmour. Loved grandfather of Natasha, Kelsey, Devon, Melissa, Tammy, Shane, Chad and Dylan and great grandfather of Logan and Carson. Dear brother of Robert “Bob” Gilmour (Marion) of Georgetown. Predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Richard was born in St. Thomas on May 10, 1943, the son of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Brooks) Gilmour. He was retired from Weatherhead (Hayes Dana). He was a member of the Centennial Sports Club.

Loved father of Bobby Rose,  Bradley Rose and Amy Cook and the late Bobby and Crystal Rose. Dear brother of Gary Rose of St. Thomas, Mike Rose of Putnam, Marjorie Clarke of St. Thomas, Shirle Inger of London, Nancy Scott of Putnam, Joan Henderson of Lambeth, Marilyn Gwen Rose of London. Predeceased by 4 sisters Donna Inger, Catherine Pyne and Betty and Sharon Rose and by 2 brothers James and Ron Rose. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Robert was born in St. Thomas on April 4th, 1957 the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Temple) Rose. He worked for Contran Manufacturing.

Brown and dearly loved mother of Wendy (Fred) McDonald of R.R. 2 Aylmer and Randy (Cheryl) Brown of St. Thomas. Loved sister of T.W. “Bud” (Joyce) O’Connor of St. Thomas, Ruth (George) Egger of Alberta, Glen (Gladys) O’Connor of Aylmer, Joan Sibley of St. Thomas and John (Marrianne) O’Connor of St. Thomas. Predeceased by a sister Marion Alden.  Dear grandmother of Cory (Kyla), Todd (Tara), Dan (Mel), Brian , Jennifer (Rick) and  Tricia (Shane) and great grandmother of R.J. , Mallory, Jesse, Blake, Ethan, Austin, Lexi, Raelynn, Bethlynn(Shane) and Samantha (Kyle). Dear great great grandmother of Ava Lynn and Kanen. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Jean was born in Fingal on July 27th, 1935, the daughter of the late Thomas Raymond and Edna Beatrice (French) O’Connor. She owned and operated Brown’s General Store with her husband in Union a number of years. Jean also  worked at Memorial Hospital and the cafeteria at Prestran.

Beales, Doris Edith Violet of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013, peacefully, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Larry Beales (1984) and dearly loved mother of Linda (Robert) Jones, Sandra (Peter) Heffren, Pam (Dorval) Fox, Larry (Carol) Beales and the late Janet Churchill (2010). She will sadly be missed by son-in-law Mario Schembri. Much loved grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Dear friend of Verona Dyson. Doris was born in Hastings, England on December 13th, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Noakes. She served in the Land Army in England during W.W.II. Doris was a war bride and married Larry  in England. She came to Canada in June 1946. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan.

Van Lanen-Wilhelmina Maria of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 80th year. Dearly loved wife of 55 years of Peter Van Lanen and loved mother of Jim Van Lanen (Bonnie) of Ilderton, Lorie Tennant (James) of London, late Josie and her husband Bill McCarvell of London and Joan-Marie Van Lanen of London. Dear sister of Leny  Gremmen, Mary De Loyer, Tina Van Berkel, John Snyders, Gerard Snyders, Joe Snyders, Anna Marie Sleegers, Jack Snyders and the late Tony Snyders. Loved grandmother of Jennifer, Amanda, Daniel, Rebecca, Jacob, Rachel, Johanna, Mark, Mary, Michael, Peter and Joshua and great grandmother of Isabella. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Wilhelmina was born in Asten, Holland on July 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Laurens and Johanna (Meulendyks) Snyder. She has lived in St. Thomas sincere 1996 and formerly of Lambeth. Wilhelmina was a member of Holy Angels’ Church, the Catholic Women’s League and Holy Angel’s Parish Choir.

TARGETT: Lloyd of St. Thomas

Targett- Lloyd of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on Thursday May 9th, 2013 at the Caressant Care Home on Bonnie Pl. St. Thomas and formerly of Southdale Line, St. Thomas, in his 81st year. Loved brother of Roma McIntyre of Windsor, Joyce Smith and Shirley Haycock both of St. Thomas.  Lloyd will be sadly missed by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born June 4th, 1932 in St. Thomas, the son of the late William and Madelaine Targett. Lloyd was retired and had worked as a public school teacher and was later a principal for the Toronto Board of Education. He was an avid traveler.  He was a supporter and contributor of the Humane Society and had supported many other animal causes.

Shellington- Larry Douglas of Belmont passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in his 64th year. Loving son of Dorothy (Link) Shellington of St. Thomas and the late Lloyd Shellington (1980). Dear brother of Ross and his wife Joan Shellington of London and Shirley Durston (late Gordon) of St. Thomas. Loved father of Larry Shellington and Christine Shellington both of London.  Dear grandfather of Loston, Lou, Larik, Carl, Chloe, Ciera and Casha.  Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Larry was born January 21, 1950 in London. He was a former welder and worked for V.M.E. and Clark Equipment. Larry was a lifelong resident of Belmont.

Cremation has taken place and a Private family memorial service will take place at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas. No public visitation. Donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Lymphoma society in Memory of Larry.

Titchner- Robert Franklin of St. Thomas passed away on Tuesday May 7th 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospita , in his 87th year. Beloved husband of 63 years to Patricia (Harrington), dear father of Linda Titchner of St. Thomas, Larry Titchner and his wife Wendy of Toronto, Laurie Cummings and her husband Paul of St. Thomas, and Michael Titchner and his partner Michelle Endaya of Toronto. Dear brother of Edward Titchner. Predeceased by a brother William, and sisters Elizabeth and Alice. Loved grandfather of Jennifer, Laura, Carly, Mark, Matthew and Sofia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bob was born in St. Thomas on September 10, 1926 to the late William and Elizabeth (Poole) Titchner. He worked as a plumber for Rankin’s Plumbing and Heating for many years, after which he operated his own Plumbing and Heating Business. Later he was employed by United Association of Plumber Local 593 and worked in London and surrounding area until his retirement.

Sararas- Donald James of St. Thomas passed away at his late residence on Monday May 6th, 2013. Donald was born January 23, 1942 in Apsley, Ontario the son of the late Mortin and Grace Sararas.  Beloved husband of Lois (Elliott) Sararas and loving father of the late Kenneth Sararas (2008) and Dennis and his wife Mylene Sararas of Brantford. Dear grandfather of Amanda, Brandon,  Matthew, Dustin, Michael and great grandfather of Sydney. Predeceased by great granddaughter Rayne(2012). Dear brother of Elvin Sararas of Belleville and Terry Sararas of Huntsville. Predeceased by sister Freda Vardy and infant brother Gary.  He was retired from the Ford Motor Company in Talbotville. Donald enjoyed boating, fishing and relaxing at the cottage and loved snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter. After he sold the cottage he had more time to visit with family and especially his 5 grandchildren which he loved so very much.

Gowanlock- Leon of Extendicare Home in Port Stanley, passed away on Sunday May 5th, 2013 at his late residence in his 71st year. Dearly loved father of Shelly Haycock (Mark) of St. Thomas and Heather Gowanlock (Darren) of Saskatoon,  and their mother the late Margaret Helen Gowanlock (2011).Loved grandfather of Taylor, Devon and Annie. Also survived by two sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Leon was born July 5th, 1942 in St. Thomas, the son of the late Clarence and Audrey Gowanlock.  Leon was an avid Detroit Red Wing Fan. The family wish to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Keenleyside and all the staff at Extendicare Home for their care, compassion and dedication to Leon,  you are all gifted caregivers.

Greenwell- Jeffrey Leonard of London passed away on Friday May 3rd, 2013 at the Victoria Campus L.H.S.C. in his 28th year. Beloved son of Leonard Greenwell of London and the late Anne (Johnson) Greenwell (2007). Loved brother of Jessica Anne Greenwell of Toronto and  grandson of Elsie Greenwell of London and the late Enoch Greenwell and Shirley Johnson of London and the late Marshall A. Johnson. Dear nephew of Enoch Greenwell and Linda Greenwell. Dear cousin of Danielle Berko-Johnson of London, Chelsea Greenwell and Brendan Greenwell both of Windsor. Jeffrey was predeceased by an uncle Howard Johnson (2010). Jeffrey was born Feb. 18th, 1986 in London, he has spent the last number of years in China teaching English. Recently he was in an apprenticeship program to become an iron worker.

Elliott- Linda Darlene “Dar” of London and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Friday May 3rd, 2013 at the L.H.S.C. Victoria Campus in her 66th year. Loved mother of Tara Elliott and partner Rob Walker of London and cherished Nana of Reilly, Dylan, Emma and Raegan. Dar was predeceased by her two sisters Margaret and Brenda Elliott. She was born May 10, 1947 in Tillsonburg, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Edna Elliott. Dar had recently retired from the Superstore in London and formerly owned and operated the Upper Deck Sports Bar and Restaurant in St. Thomas.

A Memorial Service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Visitation 2 hours prior from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to the Lung association in memory of Dar.

Beloved wife of the late Douglas Doan and dearly loved mother of Sandy (Mike) Clark and Patricia Eggett. Loved grandmother of Stacey (Doug) Adams, David (Brenda) Clark, Michelle Clark (Pierre) and Joe Eggett. Dear great grandmother of Mackenzie and Jordyn Adams, Chase and Michael Clark. Dear sister of Marilyn (Charles) Nethercott and sister-in-law of Charles (Shirley) Paul. Predeceased by her sister Wilma (Vic) Howard and Shirley Paul. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Vera worked in Health Care.

Buhagiar-Charles Carmelo “Charlie” of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, April 30th, 2013, at his late residence, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Constance (Gauci) Buhagiar and the late Phyllis Irene (Reid) (Stafford) Buhagiar. Loved father of Mary and her husband Michael Muller of St. Thomas and step-father of Dan Stafford of Aylmer and Reid Stafford of B.C. Much loved grandfather of Brandon Dube (Josephine), Kyle Dube (Courtney) and Shayah Muller. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Charlie was born in Qormi, Malta on July 6th, 1930, the son of the late Espedito and Consiglia Buhagiar. He was retired from West End, Auto. Charlie was a member of St. Anne’s  Church. He bowled in many 5 pin Leagues in London and St. Thomas. He was a former member of the St. Thomas Seniors Centre.

Dear brother of Ken Fucile (Marlene) of London, Charlotte DeGraw of Grand Bend and Elaine Deaville of London.  Loved grandfather of Amanda, Zachary, Payton, Paige, Chayse, Colby, Avery, Ellee, Alicia and Jessica. Westley was born in St. Thomas on January 1, 1951, the son of the late Jack and Marion Merritt. He was a former member of the Jumbo City Optimist Club and the Golden Acres and was a bowler with Special Olympics.

Wysevelde- Scott, passed away peacefully at his cherished Port Stanley residence on Tuesday April 16, 2013 in his 46th year. Beloved partner and best friend of Jimmy “C” Coulbeck and loved son of Patsy Moore of Simcoe and the late James Moore (2012).  Dear step-father of Derek (Courtney) Wysevelde and grandfather of Noyd. Also survived by several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Helen Coulbeck. Also survived by best friend of Jimmy and Scott, Barb Wilcox. Scott was born August 27, 1967 in Tillsonburg. He formerly worked as a safety supervisor with Magna.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Port Stanley Legion on Saturday June 1st at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.

SMALL: Mary (Flegel) of St. Thomas

Small, Mary (Flegel) of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, April 15th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 86th year. Dearly loved mother of W. Robert and his wife Cheryl Small of London and Renee Small at home. Dear sister of Anne Goreski of Oshawa, Carl and his wife   Kae Flegel of  Oshawa and Connie Van Cickle of B.C. Much loved grandmother of Taylor (Darren) and Cale. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Grayson, Saskatchewan on September 27th, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Teresa (Barnhardt) Small. She worked for over 50 years in Food Services at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.

A private family service. Cremation. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.

ROBERTS: Vivian M. of Bobier Nursing Home, Dutton and formerly of St. Thomas, ON

Roberts, Vivian M. of Bobier Nursing Home, Dutton and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, April 14th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Charles Roberts and dearly loved mother of Randy Roberts (Cynthia Nurse) and Sandra Pyper (John), all of St. Thomas. Loved grandmother of Meagen and John (Aleasha). She was the last of her family. Vivian was born in Chatham on September 9th, 1929, the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (McLaren) Jones. Vivian worked for Bell Telephone and then owned and operated Roberts Answering Service.

In Celebration of Vivian’s life the family will receive friends at the Pyper home, 96 Talbot St., St. Thomas on Sunday, April 21st from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.  Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital and Bobier Nursing Home for their care and compassion. MANNINGER: Arthur “Art” of St. Thomas, ON

Manninger, Arthur “Art” of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, April 13th, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, peacefully, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (Earley) Manninger (1997) and dearly loved father of Lisa Manninger and her husband Michael Gooderham of West Porters Lake, N.S. Much loved grandfather of Emma Gooderham. Dear brother of Frank Manninger (Marnie) of Chatham, Joseph Manninger (late June) of Blenheim, late Marion Dale (late Byron), late Ted Manninger (late Rita), late Michael Manninger (late Barb) , late Elizabeth Grant (late Frank) and the late George Manninger and his wife Mary Manninger of Chatham. Dear brother-in-law of Lee Ann Denike of Rondeau Park. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Art was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan on April 21, 1932, the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Boyle) Manninger. He was retired from the Elgin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. He was a member of the Retired Ontario  Police Officers Association.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation.
