At Bayfront Health, Punta Gorda, Florida on Sunday February 25, 2018, Robbie Malcolm McNaughton of Newbury passed away in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Ruth Ann (nee Whitlock) McNaughton and dear father of Dr. Amy McNaughton and Adam McNaughton (Kaitlyn). Survived by his brothers and sisters Dan McNaughton (Marie), Diane Brewer (late Ross), Gary McNaughton (Susan) and Ruth Gatecliffe (Randy) and sister-in-law Kandra McRae (Edmund) as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Jack (J.D.) and Alta (nee Welch) McNaughton and a brother Ross McNaughton. Relatives and friends will be received at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Wednesday March 7 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. An interment service will be held at the Alvinston Cemetery at a later date. PUSTAY: Steve formerly of Glencoe

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Steven Michael Pustay who died on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Oneida Long Term Care Facility. He was in his 91st year. He was the loving son of Peter and Anna Pustay and the beloved husband of the late Helen (2015). Greatly loved and respected by his children Ann and Bill Edwards of Glencoe, Ed and Julie Pustay of Mt. Brydges and Cindy and Fred Staels of Newbury. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ryan (Jen) Edwards of Toronto, Kelly (Richard) Galbraith of Appin, Brendan (Shannon) Edwards of London, Sarah (Jared) of Strathroy, Haley (Nick) Pustay of Mt. Brydges, Nathan (Brittany) of Blenheim, Justin (Megan) and Jordan (Ashley) Staels of Newbury. He was a special Great-grandfather to Charlotte and Sophie Edwards and Ryerson and Kennedy Galbraith, Nora Staels and Danika and Brooklyn Grace. Dear brother of Mary Janicek of Oil Springs and Peter (Joyce) of Kanata. Steve was a quiet, humble man who worked hard to support his family by farming and working for CP Rail for many years. In his later years he enjoyed golfing with his friends and meeting them at the coffee shop. Visitation will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Friday, February 2nd from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella St. Glencoe on Saturday, February 3rd at 11am., with Fr. Beloved wife of Torben “Toby” Nielsen.   Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In keeping with Cathy’s wishes cremation has taken place. Vincent Edward Brown of Glencoe, Ontario, passed away peacefully at age 85 at the Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy, Ontario, on Monday, January 22, 2018. He is survived by his spouse, Carole Gee, two sons, Peter and Timothy, and seven grandchildren Paris, Katherine, Abel, Paul, Hope, Leah and Owen, as well as by a sister, Bernice, and two brothers, James and Alex. He will be missed by so many. Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Lillian (Smith), his wife Isabel (McEachern), one sister, Mary Elizabeth, and two brothers, Hugh and Eugene. Vince taught school first in the Sarnia area, then Fergus, Dorchester, Strathroy and Glencoe, and was a vice-principal in Strathroy and Glencoe. Among his many activities, Vince was also a geographer (B.A. and M.A., University of Western Ontario), farmer, pilot, woodworker, amateur radio enthusiast, students’ chaperon, and retirement advisor. A Memorial Service will be held at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street Glencoe on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation one hour prior (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) Interment St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Alvinston. ABBOTT: Wayne of Glencoe

On Sunday, August 20th, 2017, at London Health Sciences Centre, Wayne Bruce Abbott of Glencoe, passed away. On March 16, 1948 in Chatham, Ontario, a very special boy was born to Philip (2012) and Kathleen (1986) Abbott.  To them this boy was a miracle and together they raised a kind, generous, big-hearted, loving gentleman.  He grew up in Newbury, Ontario with his brother, Michael and his sister, Bonnie (Walls).  To them he was a best friend, companion and partner in crime. On September 20, 1969 he married his childhood sweetheart, Lorraine “Lorrie” Mahovlich (2007).  To her this man was the love of her life for 38 years and together they raised three daughters, Kerri (Edward (2011)) Mesman, Terri (Glenn) Kendall and Lindsay  (Jason) Van Dalsen.  To them he was their protector, confidant, biggest fan and hero. Wayne’s legacy and most amazing gift to the world were his seven grandchildren; Randy, Jessica, Austin, Emma, Sydney, Lou and Sam. To him, they were his whole world and he supported and encouraged them in everything they set out to do.  To them, he was a super hero. Wayne was always active in his community and in his life.  He was a warden at Christ Church, Newbury; a Kinsmen; a volunteer fireman for the Newbury Fire Department and Treasurer of the Newbury Legion.  He was a member of The Village Singers Choir, coached and played baseball, threw darts and was still playing hockey.  You always knew when you took your vehicle into the shop; you could count on a great conversation and a laugh or two – especially around 5pm on a Friday. Wayne will be missed and remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law; Michael Walls, Debra Abbott, Linda and Paul DeBruyne, Chris Mahovlich, Valerie Mahovlich, Trudy Mahovlich, Vicky and Allan Fletcher and by his many nieces and nephews.  Also by his stepmother, Edna Abbott; mother-in-law, Stella Mahovlich; son-in-law, Lou Montes and special friend, Jan Allan.

Visitation will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe, Ontario on Wednesday, August 23rd from 7-9pm and Thursday, August 24th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  Funeral Service on Friday, August 25th at 11am with reception to follow at the Newbury Legion.  Private family interment. Royal Canadian Legion, Newbury Branch will conduct a service at the funeral Home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations to St. John’s Anglican Church, Glencoe or The Canadian Cancer Society.

The family announces with great sadness, the passing of Frances Matilda Ryan on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Parkwood Hospital, London. Born July 6, 1935. Daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine (O’Connor) Eckert, Seaforth ON. Fran was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker, fabulous cook and was happiest while enjoying a meal surrounded with family and friends, that she had prepared. She was warm, with a kind and gentle heart and a million dollar smile. FLETCHER: John Patterson of Toronto

With family by his side, Jack passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017 at Sunnybrook Hospital in his 93rd year. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Brown) for 57 years. Loving father and grandfather of Kathryn (Ron Gough) of Appin and their children Rosalyn, Jonathan, Tracey; Eric (Val) and their children Matthew, Andrea, Melanie of Mississauga; Andrew (Michele) and their children Aidan, Avery of Mississauga. He is survived by his brother Hugh (Nona) of Appin and his sister Dorinne Howlett of Lambeth, sister-in-law Kathleen Stubbs of Balsam Lake and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Phyllis Gillies of Glencoe and his brothers-in-law Stanley Gillies, Mike Howlett and Fred Stubbs.

He was born in Ekfrid Township, the eldest child of Milton and Catherine (Patterson). He attended SS#6 Ekfrid, Glencoe High School and the University of Western Ontario. Jack taught elementary school in Melbourne, Petrolia and Wallaceburg before moving to the town of Leaside. During the summers he also taught Physical Education courses for the Ontario Department of Education. He retired from East York Board of Education as Vice Principal in 1979. Jack curled for many years at East York Curling Club. He was passionate about his plants and flowers. His summers were spent at the cottage on Balsam Lake. Competing at cards, bridge, lawn bowling, or softball were always welcome pursuits. Many thanks to Dr. Andy Smith, Dr. Sheldon Tobe, Dr. Doug Goodall, and all the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for the excellent care Jack has received for many years. A visitation/reception will be held in Toronto at Jubilee United Church, 40 Underhill Dr. on July 18, 11 am – 2 pm. Visitation in Glencoe will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm at Van Heck Funeral Home,172 Symes Street, Glencoe where the memorial service will be held on July 20 at 1 pm. Interment will be at Appin Cemetery, with reception to follow at the Appin Community Centre. Cremation has taken place. Suddenly on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, William Arthur “Bill” Swan of Inwood passed away in his 57th year. Beloved husband of Connie (White) Swan. Dear father of Adam (Shelley) Swan, Richelle (Travis) Duncan, Brady Swan and Julia Swan and papa of Asher and Jack Swan, Hayden, Brogan, Reyna, Colby and Alexis Duncan. Dear son of Nancy (Doug) Coleman and the late Cap Swan. Brother of Nancy Sue (Mike) Thomson, John (Cathy) Swan, Scott (Jenn) Swan and Marty (Mary-Anne) Swan and brother-in-law of Brenda (Alan) Fuller, Ann McIntosh, Marilyn (Richard) Graham and the late Charles White. Born October 18, 1929 in Strathroy, Ontario to the late Edward Urquhart Collins (1958) and Alma Nevina (Neva) Lindsay Collins (1983). Sister of the late Bert Collins (2012) and his wife Freda of Sudbury and John (Jack) Collins and Isabel of Strathroy. Much loved mother of Diane Van Alstyne (Kevin Poole) and Lisa Van Alstyne, both of Glencoe. Predeceased by son Robert (Robbie) Van Alstyne (1969). Wife of the late Dr. William (Bill) Van Alstyne DDS (1975). Peacefully at home with family, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 Lissi Quistorf of Germany and recently Glencoe passed away in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Max (1996). Survived by her daughter Inge (Ernst) Hadler of Glencoe and son Ulrich Quistorf of Germany, granddaughter Tara Hadler. Her sister Marlies and brother Henning also survive her in Germany along with several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her grandson Thomas and siblings, Alfons, Roswitha, Evi, Reiner, Marion, Eddi, Gerd and Thea.
