Obituary

BIRK, Marge – Passed away peacefully in Brussels, Belgium on June 4, 2014, with her husband of 44 years at her side, after a long struggle with ovarian cancer.  Born Margret Süske on January 29, 1950, in Bodenwerder, Germany, she emigrated in 1957 to Edmonton, Alberta then, after marriage in 1969, lived in Kingston, Sudbury, Hamilton, Calgary, Sydney (NS), Oakville and Vineland, gathering friends everywhere.  She is survived by her husband, Dieter, three daughters Cassandra, Marcella and Heidi as well as her mother, Margarete in Heritage Village and her father Eberhard at the United Mennonite Home.

We thank the oncologists, and nurses of the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, ON. and Universitair Ziekenhuis, Brussels for their care and compassion during her epic battle.  The cancer did not defeat her beauty, grace and courage. She inspired Ovarian cancer patients, world-wide as the Warrior Queen. Cremation took place in Brussels, to be followed by private family arrangements in  Vineland, Ontario.

Fuller, Eileen Rolleston (nee Howarth)

Fuller, Eileen Rolleston, nee Howarth Born June 16th, 1917 Leeds, England Passed away at Albright Manor, Beamsville, Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 surrounded by her family. Eileen is survived by her loving daughter, Mavor Reilly, Grimsby, Ontario and son Don Fuller (Hilarie), Regina Saskatchewan, four grandchildren, Kathy (Mark) Reilly, Bill Reilly both of Burlington, Cody Fuller and Lacey Fuller of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Eileen`s many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Britain. Eileen was predeceased by her husband and partner of 53 years, the love of her life, William (Bill) Fuller in 2008, mother Jenny Howarth, father Robert Rolleston Howarth, brother Leslie, sister Alice, and much cherished nephew Roy Paddy. Eileen was born in England and came to Canada as a young mother in 1947 to settle in Regina. In her youth, she was a proficient tennis and badminton player, achieving her bronze medallion in Life Saving. Many of Eileen`s fondest memories were of happy times among the family`s beloved hunting dogs, punting on the river, and all of the youthful joys of country living in Britain. Eileen spent almost all of her working career in the employ of Dr. Morris Shumiatcher, serving as his dedicated and invaluable secretary for 25+ years. It did not take long for Eileen to acclimatize to Canadian culture, and soon became a staunch Saskatchewan Roughrider fan, holding season tickets with her husband for almost 50 years. Eileen and Bill enjoyed many good years of retirement, dividing their time between their summer home at Saskatchewan Beach, and winters at Thousand Palms, California. Eileen moved to Burlington, Ontario in 2008, to be closer to her daughter, Mavor, and enjoyed many visits with her family, spending all special occasions surrounded by her loved ones. A special remembrance to Bill`s dog, Lenny whom she adored. Her eyes always lit up when Lenny walked through the door, they were a perfect pair, he loved the affection and she had lots to give. At Eileen`s request a private family interment will take place in Saskatchewan. What an incredible journey, the riches of a loving family, travels to cherish, and good health to enjoy. Good bye, Mom, Good bye Grandma, always loved, ever cherished, never forgotten, most deeply missed, you were one in a million. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, CNIB or SPCA would be appreciated.
