Entered into rest on Saturday April 14th, 2018 at QHC-Belleville General Hospital at the age of 68.  Cherished husband of Lynn Vestervelt (nee Harrington). Beloved father to Mike (Ronda), Erin and the late Tara. Dear Papa of Cassie, Jaelyn & Jacob. Loving son of Betty Vestervelt (nee Wannamaker) & the late Cletus Vestervelt. Predeceased by his Mother-in-law & Father-in-law; Lawrence & Georgina Harrington. Dear brother of Paulette, Patricia, Patsy (Paul), Cindy and the late Gary and brother-in-law to David Harrington (Lynn) and the late Larry Harrington. Wally was cherished by many nieces and nephews and dear friend Pat Chapman. Cremation has already taken place.

Visitation will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Wednesday evening April 18th, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday April 19th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation prior from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Delage, Valerie – after Valerie’s courageous battle, at Q.H.C. Belleville General Hospital on Monday, April 9th, 2018 in her 63rd year. Daughter of Sylvia Lewis and the late Edward Graves. Loving companion of Stephen Sharples.  Dear mother of Gary (Ashley) Delage , Catarina (John) Wagstaff both of Tweed. Grandmother of Ryah, Alyssa, Malaki and Matteo. Sister of Tim (Liz), Tom, Jamie (Liz), Darlene (Dave), Brenda (Michael) and sister-in-law of Agon. She is predeceased by her sister Bonnie.

The Family will hold  a celebration of Valerie’s life at the Gerry Masterson Township of Thurlow Community Centre, 516 Harmony Road, Corbyville on Sunday, April 15th, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

KIRKWOOD, Raymond Robert “Bob” – of Belleville, entered peacefully into rest at the Kingston General Hospital on Saturday February 24th, 2018 at the age of 66. Dear son of the late Raymond & Anita Kirkwood. Dear Father of Melissa (nee Kirkwood). Cherished brother of Emerson “Michael” Kirkwood (Renee) of Belleville. Uncle Bob will be missed by his nieces & nephews; Jaime-Lynn, Sean-Ryan, Christian-Lee (Leonie Skinner) and great niece Lilleth and great nephews Isaiah & Gabriel. The family would like to thank all of Bob’s friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has already taken place.

Littler, Twila Dorothy, life long resident of Belleville, passed away at Hastings Manor, on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018, in her 86th year. Daughter of the late Horace Armstrong Littler and Edith Elouise (nee Bartlett) Littler. Twila was born in Belleville and worked at the Deacon Shirt Factory for almost forty years as a seamstress. She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Adeline Thompson, and is survived by a cousin, Margaret Macartney and a niece, Betty Lou Wells, both of Ottawa.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, (613-968-2273), 30 Moira Street West, Belleville. Visitation will be at Steele Funeral Home  on Thursday evening, March 1, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm,  and again on Friday March 2nd, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at Calvary Community Church, where the  Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Belleville Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions to Calvary Community Church, Hastings Manor, or the Memorial Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

The family would also like to take this opportunity to express their appreciation to the administration, nursing staff, and other staff who all provided excellent care for Twila for the past several years. Twila was an inspiration to all who knew her. Despite all the challenges she faced, she still had a wonderful outlook on life and a smile that would warm your heart.

WOCKNITZ, Laurette Lucille – began her new journey from Moira Place Long Term Care to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in her 82nd year.  She was a strong and take-charge kind of woman with a great sense of compassion who lovingly supported her family.  This fun loving, mischievous, feisty firecracker brought many smiles to our faces. No words can truly express how much we loved her.  She will be missed greatly but never forgotten.  Dear daughter of the late Arthur and Blanche Gagne.  Cherished Mother of: Pauline Crouse (Michael), Paul Graves (Doris), Roseanne Clarke (Norman), Dora Hinze, Kirk Graves (Debbie), Annette Bergeron (Jim) and Kelly Allan (Jamie).  Also, lovingly remembered by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by her siblings: Marcel Gagne, Cecile Kleinstuber, Alice Kennedy (Jim), Rose Downey, Roger Gagne (Sheila), Paulette Kilby (Arnold), Leo Gagne (Debbie), Art Gagne (Kim) and Angela Gagne and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by cherished husband, Leonard Wocknitz; Mother-in-Law, Dora Armstrong; baby brother, Oriel; Sister-in-law, Muriel; Brother-in-law, Dennis; Son-in-law, Cecil; Grandchildren, Issac, Amber and Ben; Nieces and Nephews.  Her family and friends will miss her immensely.

Also lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Robert “Bob” Potts (late wife Mary) of Brighton, Gerry Potts (Marilyn), Belleville and the late Barbara Bertha Somerville. Tony will be missed by his in-laws; Nancy Ryan (late husband Gerry), Shannonville, Eugene Hill (Susan), Rochester, N.Y., (late) Carl Hill & surviving wife Cathy, Rochester, N.Y., Gordon Hill (Sharon), Shannonville and Debbie Sinclair (Jim), Shannonville. Beloved wife of Barry John Albert Blaind for 66 years. Cherished Mother of Janice Mikel (Ken), Brenda Hope (Keith), Rebecca Dameren, Lisa Hennessy (Randy) and Peter Blaind (Rose).  Also lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her daughters; Laurie & Cindy Blaind, grandson Adam Barry and siblings; Audrey, Gord, Harvey, Fred, Arnold and Tom Pemberton.

Bill was the oldest son of the late Emerson and Elsie Winter; predeceased by his wife, Wenonah. He is survived by his sons, Kevin and Mark (Debbie Coles) Winter; his grandchildren, Aimee Broadley, Tylor and Dylan Winter and two great grandchildren, Reese and Lilly Hodgson; brother Richard (Butch) Winter (Barbara). Predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law; Lois and Bob Purvis.

At Bill’s request there will be no service at this time.   A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

HOGAN, Joy Lillian – of Belleville, formerly of Warkworth, entered into rest at QHC Belleville General Hospital on Friday December 29th, 2017 in her 78th year. Daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Harry Davey. Beloved wife of the late Dennis John Hogan. Joy will be missed dearly by her children; Teri Vancott Meringer (James), Frank Vancott, Lori Tarrington (Mike), Brenda Cresswell (Gary), Sheryl Hogan (Dale), Tim Hogan (Cindy) and Jason Hogan (Patricia).  Also lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Derek Davey (Maureen) and Carol Lougheed (late husband Ron).

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Joy’s life will be held at The Belleville Club, 210 Pinnacle Street, Belleville on Sunday January 7th, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. ~ 4:00 p.m.

If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.

SMITH: Arlene (nee Robinson) of Belleville

Mrs. Arlene (nee Robinson) Smith, of Belleville, passed away at Quinte Health Care Sills Wing on Saturday, December 30, 2017, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of Steven Smith. Arlene was born at Graphite, north of Bancroft, and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (nee Best) and Emerson Robinson. Dear mother of Darren (Yoshimi) DeGenova of Toronto, and Monty DeGenova, of Belleville. Dear step-mother of Carrie (Jae) Cheyne of Batawa. Arlene is survived by two sisters and two brothers, all of the Bancroft area: Diane Easton (late husband Reg); Iris Easton (husband David); Claude (wife Donna) Robinson; and James (Jim) (wife Edith) Robinson. She was also loved by grandchildren Darlene, Alexandra, and Brennan and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville. (613-968-2273).

As per Arlene’s wishes, Cremation has already taken place. The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, on Friday, January 5th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. and again on Saturday, January 6th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Steele Family Centre, adjacent to the funeral home.

Memorial Donations to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation (Oncology or Palliative Care), Belleville Lions Club, Graphite Bible Camp or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

WILLIAMS; Helen Marguerite –Our dear sweet mom, grandma and GG entered into glory on Saturday, December 23rd, 2017, in her 94th year at Hastings Manor Nursing Home, Belleville. Her gentle touch, warm smile, unconditional love and enduring faith will always be cherished and locked in our hearts. “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7.

Daughter of the late Roy & Pearl Salisbury. Beloved wife of the late Charles Theodore “Tim” Williams. Loving mother of Marilyn O’Brien of Belleville. Cherished grandmother of two grandsons; Paul (Amanda) O’Brien and Brodie O’Brien and great grandmother of Landon. Helen is predeceased by her son; Paul Williams, her son-in-law; Peter O’Brien, and her brothers; Ronald “Tip” Salisbury and Glenn Salisbury. Helen will be lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Myrtle Salisbury and her many nieces and nephews. The family wish to extend their thanks to the staff of Hastings Manor for their compassion & love for Helen and her family.

Arrangements are in the care of Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273).

A Private graveside service was held at Belleville Cemetery on Thursday December 28th, 2017.

Martin, Douglas Valentine – peacefully at E J McQuigge Lodge on Wednesday, December 20th, 2017, in his 98th, year. Son of the late David and Evelyn Martin. Beloved husband of the late Mary Gladys Martin (nee-Pyear). Dear father of Stephen (Virginia) Martin of Waterloo and Linda (Glen) Carson of Corbyville. He is also survived by his daughter-in- law, Betty Martin, of Belleville. He is predeceased by one son David Martin. Douglas is predeceased by his brothers and sisters and lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Loving grandfather of Darryl (Karen) Martin of Inverary, Denise Martin of Belleville and Lee (Nicole) Martin of Corbyville, Shane Martin of Calgary, Susan (Paul) Dunk of Waterloo and Stacey (Tom) O’Connor of Calgary, Jamie Carson of South Korea and Kristen Carson of Ottawa. Dear great grandfather of Luke, Sarah, Brady, Jacoby, Caleb, Rebecca, Isaiah and Nijel.

A Memorial service will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville on Thursday, December 28th, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until service time. Following the service a reception will be held at the Steele Family Centre.

Inurnment will take place at Victoria Cemetery in the spring time. If desired, Memorial donations to the Gideon Bibles or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

SKINKLE: Jean Ann of Belleville

SKINKLE, Jean Ann –  It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Skinkle on Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 at QHC-Belleville General Hospital at age 84, with her family by her side. Jean was a lifelong resident of Belleville. She was married to her loving husband Garnet for 66 years. Jean will be sadly missed by her children: daughter; Josephine Boardman (husband Steve); son Jim Skinkle (wife Diane); and daughter Judith McLeod (husband Terry), her lovng grandchildren; Erika and Casey Rodgers; Katie and Sean Begley; Brent and Allison Boardman; Chad and Kelley Skinkle; and Cory and Kristen Skinkle. Also including Jean’s great grandchildren: Kolbie, Braedyn, Caoimhe, Lannah, Tilly, Brody and Morgan.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has already taken place.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jean’s life which will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Friday December 29th, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m.
