HANSEY, Audrey “Ferne” – of Foxboro, entered into rest at Quinte Healthcare Belleville General Hospital on Monday February 13th, 2017 in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Robert Francis (Frank) Easton & the late Emma Elizabeth (nee Walker). Beloved wife of the late Ernest Hansey. Cherished Mother of Raymond (Connie) Hansey of Nanaimo, B.C., Ronald (Jan) Hansey of Stirling, Paul (Barbara) Hansey of Stirling and George Hansey of Picton. Also lovingly remembered by grandchildren, John, Donna, Adam (Natalie), Sarah (Robert), David, Kristen (Justin) & Damien and great grandchildren, Merissa, Neilia, Baylea, Abigayle, Colby, Jayden and Everly. Dear sister of Walter Easton of Belleville. Predeceased by siblings, Robert Easton and Edith Jeffs (late husband Bert). Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

ODDY, Cecil Arthur – passed away on February 12th, 2017 at Maple Manor Residence in his 92nd year. He was born in Palmer Rapids, Ontario. Son of the late Arthur & Gertrude Oddy. Survived by sisters Margaret Sills & Fern Lee (Frank) & several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by sisters Sarah Kent (late Norm), Mary Sharpe (late Calvin) Jean Ness (late Irvin) and brothers Kenneth and Vernon Oddy.

Funeral Service will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Thursday February 16th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Fr. Brad Beale officiating. Interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery.

McTaggart, Dale Desmond – at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, February 12th, 2017 in his 78th year.  Son of the late Basil and Blanche McTaggart.  Beloved husband of Marilyn McTaggart (nee Anderson) of Eldorado.  Loving father of Jillian (Dave) Hughes of Marmora, Dana (Gary) Johnston of Madoc, Shona (John) Walsh of Peterborough, Scott (Carol) McTaggart of Eldorado and Krista (Shawn) Pack of Madoc.  Proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dale is survived by his sisters, Dawn Howard and Karen (Charles) Cassidy both of Madoc, his brother John McTaggart (Joanne) of Belleville and his sister-in-law, Judith McTaggart of Shannonville.  He is predeceased by his brother Paul McTaggart and by his brother-in-law John Howard.  Dale will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and his extended family.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Roman Catholic Church, Marmora at 11:00 a.m.

Dear mother of Monty Closson, and Curt (Wendy) Closson, both of Keswick; Nancy (Cecil) Farrington of Bloomfield; Kimberly (Mark) Sanders of Barrie; and Kelly (Keith) Closson of Belleville. Also lovingly remembered by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Stella Smith of Marmora. Betty was predeceased by 4 brothers and 7 sisters.

Cherished grandmother of Christine Andrews-Lunau (Duane) of Oshawa, David Andrews of Toronto, Darlene Andrews (Rob) of Mississauga, Lori (Rich) Meeboer of Corbyville, Lisa (David) Brotherton of Sauble Beach, Trevor (Leanne) Muir of Binbrook and Joshua Muir (Melanie) of Fonthill.  Carlyn will also be remembered by her many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her son-in-law, Harvey Martin and by her grandson, Bradley Andrews.

Dear brother of Marie Cole of Lower Sackville, NS, Michael (Deborah) Matwyuk of Prince George, BC and Janine (Blaine) Brethour of Penticton, BC.  He will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and extended family. Ken was a Trustee of Genoa Assembly #0863 and a former Treasurer of Archbishop Wilhelm Council #1008 of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoorsman, an active member of Holy Rosary Parish and a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

Vos, Hendrick W. “Hank” – It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of Hank Vos of Belleville at the age of 89 years. He passed away peacefully, with family by his side on January 17, 2017 at the H. J. McFarland Memorial Home in Picton, ON.  Hank was born in Hoogeveen, The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1952.  Son of the late Walter and Geesja Vos of Picton and Whitby ON; he will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret Vos, and his sisters Ada Veenstra and Margret (Bob) Carnegie.  Hank was predeceased by his first wife Cornelia “Corry” Vos, his brothers, Jacob Vos and Tom Vos, his brother–in-law, Andrew Veenstra and his sisters-in-law, Grace Vos and Johanna Vos.  Hank is the loving father of Vivian (Ron) Long and Walter (Brenda-Lee Doyle) Vos and loving step-father to Shirley Daniels, Louise Liberty, Rhonda (Randy) Payne, David (Carla) Heffernan, Dale (Lisa) Heffernan, Pat (Karen) Heffernan and Kate (Michele Verry) Heffernan.  He is missed by his grandchildren, Colin Long, Savannah (Tyrel) Salmond, Joanna (Dreytan) Long, Jordan Long and Martina Doyle-Vos as well as by his 10 step-grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.  Hank was a member and elder of St. Columba Presbyterian Church and for many years he sang in the choir.  He had a real love for nature and the outdoors, guided many bird watches wherever he travelled and was an ardent supporter of the H.R. Frink Outdoor Education Centre north of Belleville.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, 520 Bridge Street East in Belleville, ON at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service.  Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Corbyville following a reception in the church hall.  A special thanks to the staff of the H J McFarland Memorial Nursing Home and Dr. Nancekievill for their kindness and superb care.

Sills, Joan Beatrice – peacefully at Q.H.C. Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 in her 85th year. Daughter of the late William and Anne Meens. Beloved wife of the late Keith Sills. Dear mother of Bruce (Ida) Sills, Kelvin Sills, Joanne (Rod) Moring, Steven (Tanya Hyderman) Sills. Predeceased by son Franklin Sills and daughter Darlene Sills. Dear grandmother of Aaron, Harley, Jackson, Jamie, Courtney and remembered by her extended family Darrel (Sharon) Seeley and their children; Amanda (Kevin) Crocker, Connor, and Stephanie (Dom) Donato. HAWKINS: William of Belleville

Hawkins, ,William (Retired Belleville OPP Detachment Commander),  passed away at QHC-Belleville General Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Cronk) Hawkins.He was predeceased by his parents, the Late Jesse and Beulah (nee Ford) Hawkins. Dear father of Kimberly and Jennifer Hawkins, both of Belleville, Calvin, of BC, and Christopher (Kristy) of Woodstock, ON. Bill was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Matthew (Nikki), and Joshua Gjelstad; and Caitlyn, Jesse, Ellie, and Cooper Hawkins. Bill was also loved by four great-grandchildren: Noah, Hannah, Mikaela, and Joshua. Bill is  survived by two sisters, Marion (David) Weedmark, of London, and Gloria (Leo) Heyboer, of Kingsville. Bill will be sadly missed also by Shirley’s family: sisters Doris Smith and Mary (Ross) Lumley, both of Belleville, and brothers Harold Cronk of Wellington and Walter (Judy) Cronk of Bloomfield. Bill was also respected by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville. (613-968-2273). The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5th, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the Steele Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 6th, at 10:30 am. Stan Fergusson L.L.D. officiating. Private Family Inurnment to take place at Belleville Cemetery Niche Wall at a later date. Following the funeral, there will be further opportunity to share memories and fellowship with the family at the Steele Family Centre, adjacent to the funeral home. KEMP, Lloyd Benson – Of Belleville, in his 92nd year, entered into rest on Tuesday morning December 27th, 2016 with his family at his side. Son of the late Hilda Keenan (nee Arkless) and step son of the late Tom Keenan. Beloved companion of Doreen Butler (nee McCaw) for over 35 years. Loving father of Nancy and Gordon (Tammy) and dear step-father of James “Jim” Butler (Lisa Charlton), Penny Dustin, Susan (Ken) Insley, Jackie (Bill) Blakely, Norma Benoit and Peggy Butler (Jim Harvey). Lloyd will be missed by his grandchildren and step grandchildren, great grandchild and step great grandchildren. Predeceased by step grandson Tom. Dear brother of the late Morris (surviving wife Ruby) and the late Ivy. Lloyd worked at General Motors in Oshawa for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was also a life member of the Trillium 2000 Club, Parkdale Euchre Club and a loyal, dedicated fan of the Detroit Redwings/Tigers.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby on Friday December 30th, 2016 at 2:00p.m.

BENTLEY, Wayne Norman – Of Kingston, entered into rest at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday December 20th, 2016 at the age of 67. Dear son of the late Norman & Wanda Bentley. Cherished brother of Virginia Williams (late husband David) of Kingston. Dear uncle to Parker Williams (Shay) of Markham, Tyler Williams (Ann) of Edmonton and great uncle to Bennett and Cora Williams.

Funeral Service will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Wednesday January 4th, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service (12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.). Interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery.

Carr-Braint, Kenneth Howard “Coach” – at home, with his wife at his side, on Sunday, December 25th, 2016 in his 89th year.  Son of the late Harry and Mary Carr-Braint. Dearly loved Sweetheart and Husband of Edith Carr-Braint of Belleville.  Loving father of Bonnie (Ross) Kerwin, Larry (Margaret), Joel (Marjorie) all of Belleville, Scott of Kingston and the late David Carr-Braint.  Much loved step-father of Connie (Mark) Gallupe, Sylvia (Alan) Brockwell and Peter (Joanne) Petrick.  Ken will be missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Janice (John) Paton and predeceased by his brother, Don and his sisters, Ann, Kay and Joyce.  He will be remembered by several nieces and nephews.  Ken was a General Contractor and Master Builder in the Belleville area and an Olympian in his chosen sport of Weightlifting.

The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Monday, January 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.  Private Interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
