PRINDLE, Richard “Weldon” (WWII Veteran)-entered into rest at Quinte Gardens, Belleville, on Remembrance Day, November 11th, 2018, one day after his 96th birthday. Dear son of the late Fred & Viola Prindle. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis “Irene” Prindle (nee Liddle). Loving father of Lorraine Cole (late husband Arnold) of Belleville and the late Bruce Prindle (surviving wife Kristine) of Chatham. Also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Ryan of Ottawa, Matthew of Belleville and great granddaughter Taylor McKenzie Cole of Belleville. Predeceased by his siblings Marion (surviving husband Carl), New Brunswick, Verna (late husband Morris), Hazel (surviving husband Don), Belleville and Iner (surviving wife Shirley), Marmora. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Weldon retired from Canada Post after many years of service.

Visitation will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Friday, November 16th, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. ~ 12:30 p.m.  Officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #99, are requested to assemble at the funeral home for a Legion Service, beginning at 12:45p.m.  A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Wally Mayhew officiating. Private Inurnment Elmwood Cemetery.

Dear father of Pamela (Donald) Pestaluky of Ottawa, Janice (Terry) Parker, Dana (Liz) Parker both of Saskatchewan, Kimberly (Donald) Read of Plainfield and Calvin (Angela) Parker of Belleville. Remembered by grandchildren John, Amanda, Erica, Jessica, Alicia, Melanie, Allen, Victoria, Curtis and great grandchildren Logan, Colby, Conner, Carson and Braxon. Brother of Dallice Carter and predeceased by brother Wayne Parker.

Beloved son of Brad & Kristin Bell (nee Bowen).  Cooper will be missed by his big brother Ashton, little sister Caitlyn and predeceased by his sister Atlanta. Loving grandson of Gary & Elaine Bell of Peterborough, Cody Bowen of Peterborough and Charles Bowen of Lakefield. Also lovingly remembered by his uncles and aunts; Heather Nisbett (Shawn), Gwen Bell (Theo), Candice Bright (Rick) and by his cousins; Hudson, Brooklyn, Evelyn, Remi, Dylan and Ethan.

Burlington) and Christopher Geen (Laura) & loving grandfather of Piper.  Dear brother of Carol Barry, Lois MacDonald (Doug), Teresa Ramsay, Larry Geen (Judy), Lyle Geen (Sue), Connie Zaychuk (Derek) and Shelly Fitzgibbon (Lionel Lavoie). Predeceased by his brother Ronald Geen, brother-in-law Vince Barry, nephew Scott Geen and father & mother-in-law Lornie & Alice Lebow. Ken will be missed by his in-laws Elwood Lebow (Judy), Marion Shorey (Rick) and Helen Elliott (Stephen). Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Also lovingly remembered by Christine Lebow.

Grandfather of Stephanie (Andrew) Hudson, Nathan Cross and great grandfather of Chelsea Cross. Beloved husband of Freda (nee Marshall). Loving father of Donald (Heather) of Belleville and Robert (Connie Williams) of Stirling. Proud grandfather of Matthew (Morgan), Logan (Ashley), Luke (Lindsey), Benjamin and Cory. Great grandfather of Madison, Vince, Marissa, William and Anthony. Bill is survived by his sister Joanne (Robert) Gloin of Sarnia and by his sisters-in-law, Edith Mailman, Velma Reed, Lila Bartlett and Minnie Daniels. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and extended family.

McCAREY, Linda Anne – of Belleville, passed away at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, KGH on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 in her 73rd year.  Dear daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude Duncan. Cherished wife of Michael Joseph McCarey for 49 years. Loving mother of David McCarey (Sonya) and Anne Egan (Darragh).  Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Malcolm Egan, Rebecca Egan and Thomas McCarey. Linda will be missed by her brother Paul Duncan (Margo), cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Jack Duncan (surviving wife Sue). Linda graduated in 1968 (Bachelor of Nursing Science) from Queens University and in 1996 she received a Masters of Science of Epidemiology. She spent her career as a Public Health Nurse, 30 years in Belleville and the surrounding areas and also 9 years with the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Public Health Unit, and will be greatly missed by many colleagues and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (399 Victoria Avenue, Belleville)  on Friday, September 14th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church one hour prior to service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Cremation to follow.

THIFFAULT, Jean Marc (John) May 7, 1930 – August 4, 2018.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear husband & father. A dedicated employee of the Canadian National Railways (CN) for 37 years.  John came to Belleville, along the way from several railway supply locations, including initially from Cochrane Ontario, ending at the Belleville CN roadway materials supply yards in 1970.  Born in Parent, Quebec, John was educated in colleges in southern Quebec and Ontario, where he learnt the English language and to appreciate both French and English cultures.  John had a great love of the outdoors and was a very enthusiastic vegetable gardener.  He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 69 years, Catherine (née Ouellette).  Loving father of Jacques (Donna Thompson), André (Marilyn Nugent), Jean Pierre (Monique Boucher), Carole (Larry Martin), Daniel (Margaret Spinney), Denis (Sharon Stewart), Sylvie (Tom Nyitrai), and Brian.  Loving grandparent of Claire, Julie, Shelley, Dustin, Valerie, Ryan, Leah, Madeline and Marc.  Loving great-grandparent of Haylie, Jaymie, Rowan and Lilliana.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life, on Saturday August 18th, at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville, Ontario, (613-968-2273) from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Elwood is also survived by sister-in-law Edna Mackey, of MacArthur’s Mills. Kelter, Ethel “Vera” – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Vera Kelter.   She passed away peacefully, on Thursday, June 21st, 2018, surrounded by family, at Bridge Street Retirement Residence, in her 98th year.  Wife of the late Marwin Kelter and the late Jerome Ballard.  Loving mother of Derek Ballard, Rosalind Phillips (deceased), Sharon Begin, Marguerite Ralph, Leslie Ballard (deceased) and Pamela (Rick) Ferrell. Cherished by her five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  She will be missed by her many friends at Christ Church and fellow members of the Order of the Eastern Star, Minerva Chapter 138.

Special Thanks to Dr. Chad Stewart and his staff and the staff of Bridge Street Retirement Residence for their compassion and care.

The family are planning a Celebration of Life to be held later in August.  Cremation entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273).

BADGLEY, Catherine-In loving memory of Catherine, who passed away peacefully, at home on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 with her loving husband, of 58 years, Reg Badgley by her side. With sadness and sorrow and yet joy because she has passed into heaven, in the presence of the God Almighty, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the ages upon ages of eternity. She was a beautiful, selfless, giving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Predeceased by her parents Norman and Bernice Leavitt and her brothers, Henry, John and David. She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Ed), Steve, David (Joanne) and Tim (Nora), grandchildren, Roslyn (Mike), Krystal (Chris), James (Hyein), Della, Catherine, Natalie, Sherrie and Jennifer (Jay), great grandchildren, Amelia, Cleo, Athena, Cortni, Tylur, Cameron and Ben, her siblings Pat (Roly), Anne (Ross), Paul (Laurie) and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Thursday evening June 21st, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, June 22nd, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

ANDERSON, Richard “Dennis” –peacefully, with his children at his side, at the Q.H.C. Belleville General Hospital, on Friday, June 8th, 2018 in his 76th year. Son of the late Tom and Helen Anderson. Loving father of Debbie (Brad) Taylor of Carrying Place and Jason Anderson of Belleville. Grandfather of Katlyn and Liam. Will be missed by Jennifer Miller (Katlyn’s mom). Dear brother of Don (Liz Reid) Anderson, Bob (Lana) Anderson both of Belleville, Deena Martin and Lolita MacDonald both of Trenton and Cheryl Daynard of Belleville. Predeceased by brother’s Tom, Bill and Clarence and sister Maralyn. Lovingly remembered by Debbie and Jason’s mother,  Glady Williamson (Wally).

A memorial service will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Saturday June 16th, 2018 at 12:00 noon with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Steele Family Centre.

If desired, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Coady & Dr. Weinstein of Belleville, staff of Belleville General Hospital and staff of Kingston General Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to their family over the years.

MacDONALD: Troy Jeffery of Cobourg

MacDonald, Troy Jeffery – it is with the utmost of sadness we announce the tragic death of Troy Jeffery MacDonald, at home, on June 9, 2018, at the age of 21.  Troy is the amazing son of Jeff MacDonald and Linda MacDonald.  He is the best friend and cherished brother of Brad (Shawntel) MacDonald.  Loving grandson of Tony & Katherine (late Claudette) Kelly and Harold (late Jean) MacDonald.  Troy is loved by many caring aunts, uncles and cousins.  He is special to many, many friends, especially Devin & Brycen.  He is also fondly remembered by the Cuddy family. Troy was a very talented athlete and excelled at football.  Brad & Troy enjoyed fishing, boating, kayaking, bonfires, snorkeling, tubing and ATVing.  They would be all bruises when their dad joined in the paintball fun.  Troy’s smile was contagious and his sense of humor was enormous.  He proudly achieved his OSSGD last fall and was to start the Heavy Equipment Operator course at Fleming College in July.  His painful struggle has now ended.  May he be at peace until we meet again.  We love you dearest Troy and thank you for the joy you brought to our lives.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. with the family receiving friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Cremation to follow.

Caverly, Ronald Allen “Ron” – suddenly at home on Friday, June 1, 2018 in his 78th year.  Son of the late Carmen and Dorothy Caverly.  Husband of the late Judith Caverly.  Loving father of Kathy (Chris) Orme of Willow Beach, Rhonda (Kevin) Juby, Norman Caverly, both of Belleville and Michael (Deanne) Caverly of Sarnia.  Grandfather to Dennis, Kaitlin, Kyle, Troy, Daniel and Noah.  Ron is survived by his sisters, Beverly Lewis, Barbara (Robert) Cummins, Mary Jane Empson (Ron) and Joyce (Les) Naylor.  Ron is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The Memorial Service will be held at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville, on Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at 12:00 noon with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Inurnment to follow at Belleville Cemetery.

O’Neil, Sharon Nancy – peacefully, at QHC – Belleville General Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer,  on Thursday, May 31st, 2018, a day before her 76th birthday.  Daughter of the late Neil and Bessie O’Neil.  Loving mother of Méline (Greg) Van Slyke (nee Archambault) and Lianne (David) Morissette (nee Archambault).  Sharon will also be remembered fondly by her cousins, close friends and her beloved dog, Dori.

Sharon’s family will hold a celebration of her life on Saturday, July 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Signal Brewery, Henry’s Room, 86 River Road, Corbyville (just north of Belleville).

Cremation entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273).

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Quinte Humane Society would be appreciated.

Beloved husband of Judy Cretney (nee-Phillips). Dear father of Lorie (Kevin) Rogers of Bloomfield and Sherry (Joe) O’Hara of Belleville. Proud Papa of Cooper and Natalie Rogers, Colby and Caleb O’Hara and predeceased by twin grandchildren Benjamin and Nicholas Rogers.Dear brother of Christine Matthews of Kenron Estates, Bill (Vicki) Cretney, Randy (Beth) Cretney both of Belleville and predeceased by sister’s Ann, Donna, Janet and by brother Larry Cretney. Loved by many nieces and nephews.
