BRUCE, Fannie of Tavistock, Ontario

Posted by on March 9, 2018

BRUCE, Fannie Frances (nee Scott) – Passed away at People Care Nursing Home, Tavistock on Thursday, March 8, 2018, one week shy of her 92nd Birthday. Predeceased by her husband Clifford (August 2016). They married October 25, 1946 and spent several years farming on the 13th Line East-Zorra Tavistock. Fannie was very involved in the dairy and layer hen operations, as well as the care of a wide selection of animals and birds that Cliff seem to collect. Fannie became the “Restoration Expert”, spending hours repairing and painting the extensive collection of artifacts that Cliff brought home from auctions to ‘Windmill Hill’. In the fall of 2002 they sold the farm, had a HUGE auction sale, and moved to a small acreage on Hwy 59 just north of Woodstock. The acreage here soon became crowded with Cliff’s collections as well. Over the years they became well known and made life-long friends with some of the many visitors that came to view the collections. They even appeared in TV documentaries such as ‘Weird Backyards’! In the fall of 2013 they sold the Hwy property and moved to Oxford Gardens in Woodstock, and as health failed they became residents of People Care Nursing Home in Tavistock.
