GARDINER, Marilyn Maxine

Of Tilbury, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the age of 74.  Born in Chatham, Ontario on November 16, 1938, daughter of the late Archie McCoig and late Bessie (Graham) Gardiner. Survived by three sisters, Shirley and late Rene Blair of Jeannette’s Creek, Joyce and late LeeRoy Taylor of Straffordville, Patricia and late Mervyn Quiding of Tilbury and one brother Richard and Patricia Gardiner of Merritt, British   Columbia.  Predeceased by brother Archie LeRoy and sister Catherine Grace.  Eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Maxine retired from Public Library Service to Tilbury and KentCounty in 1998 after 41 years of service. She was involved in community affairs, particularly Girl Guide movement,  District Chamber of Commerce, Coordinator of Centennial Celebration 1987, Citizen of the year 1980, Heart of Gold recipient 1990, Editor of Centennial Book Celebration of Century 1887-1987. Maxine was a local Historian, Archivist, Genealogist, Artist, Writer, and Musician. She was a member of the Lt. Patrick Wilson Chapter IODE for the past 25 years. STACEY, Ovaline, recent years, oval2passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Tilbury Manor on Saturday, August 3, 2013.  Beloved wife for 66 years of the late Morris Stacey (2011).  Loving mother of Kathleen (Jerome) Caza, Janet (Jeff) Edwards, Beatrice, Gary (Tammy), James (Joann), John (Darlene), and foster son George (Nancy) Taylor.  Cherished grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.  Predeceased by parents Narcisse and Souphranie (Duquette) Thibert, great granddaughter Laura Caza, and foster son Garnet Merritt.  Dear sister of Marie Cox, Anne Wolinsky, Theresa Alexander, Beatrice Laframbroise, Paul Thibert, and the late Ernest, Leo, Alec, Jules, Raymond, Henry, Philippe, Angeline Serdan, and Laurina.  Ovaline was the Comber librarian for 30 years, an active longstanding member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion and I.O.D.E. in Comber. She worked the gates at the Comber Fair for several years, greeting locals and visitors in both French and English (No one got past her!).  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 98 years, of Tilbury, passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.  Born in Hliboka, Austria on October 22, 1914.  Beloved wife of the late Francis (Frank) Duplessis (1968).  Daughter of the late Frank and Anne (Sauer) Scherle.  Dear mother of Alice and late husband Dr. Jim Recker of St. Clair Beach, Beatrice Mallette of Toronto, Gordon and wife Sarah Duplessis of Chatham, Shirley Ann and Ken Mailloux of Comber.  Predeceased by sons-in-law Victor Mallette (2009) and Peter Lanoue.  Proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren.  Dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Also greatly missed by feline companion “Poopsie”.  Survived by one stepsister Marion and husband Melton Bockman of San Jose, California.  Predeceased by brother Carl Scherle (1982) and his wife Jean Scherle (1993).  Predeceased by stepbrother Rudy Scherle (2006) and his wife Ilene (Bunny) Scherle (2008), late stepsister Isabelle and late husband Harold Scannel, late stepsister Catherine and late husband Victor Vorce.  Emma was a 70 year member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Women’s League, a life member and past president of St. Charles Altar Society, a life member of Elizabeth S. 69 years,oval pic died peacefully on July 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and holding his wife’s hand.  Precious husband for almost 45 years to Pauline (nee Janisse).  Predeceased by his parents Alfred (1990) and Florence Bornais (1976) (nee Laliberte), father in law, André Janisse, (1976) and his niece Kelley, (1994). Loving father of Jeannine (Alan Jackson), Langley, BC, Renée, (Jason Wintermute), St. Clair Beach,  Robert (Alison), Windsor, Jacqueline (Sven Poysa), Toronto, and Daniel (Emily), Ottawa.  Dearest pépé to Karina and Eric Wintermute, Maxime, Clara, and Noah Poysa, and Mila Bornais.  Dear brother to Jeanne (James Goodreau).  Dear son in law to Alice (Robillard) Janisse. Dear brother in law to Albert Janisse (Stephanie) and Maurice Janisse (Patricia). Loving uncle to nine nieces and nephews.  Paul was a dedicated teacher and Department Head at Tilbury District High School for 29 years, past president of the St. Joachim Athletic Association, and coached numerous sports at school and in the community.  Paul enjoyed golfing with his sons and other family and friends as well as long distance cycling.  He was an avid wood worker and many articles of his craft can be seen in his and his children’s homes.  Paul and Pauline loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida.  Paul was a member of the Visitation Parish Fundraising Committee for over ten years, organizing many successful golf tournaments.  He was also a member of La Chorale from Visitation Parish and a former reader, commentator, Eucharistic minister, and greeter.  Paul had such a positive outlook on life and a wonderful joie de vivre!  Visitation at on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:00p.m. and on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:30 a.m at Visitation Parish, Comber.  Cremation has already taken place.  As your expression of sympathy, memorial tributes to Visitation Parish Building Fund or to Transition to Betterness Fund would be appreciated by the family.  The family invites you to share your memories and condolences at www.reaumefh.com

DELL, Tom,oval63 years, of Tilbury, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Cedar Island, at the beach which was Tom’s favourite place.  God came and took Tom to Heaven with Him, leaving behind many, many broken hearts.  Loving husband and best friend of Nancy (Phaneuf).  Beloved father of Jordan Thomas Dell.  Cherished grandfather to the light of his life, Brittany Eva.  Predeceased by his parents Harley and Ruth (Wilson) Dell.  Dearest brother of the late Peter (June 4, 2013) (surviving wife Pat) Dell, Jim (Judy) Dell, David (Lisa) Dell, Susan (Ted) Griffith, Rick (Patti) Dell, Anne (David) Beardsall.  Dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Tom was loved by many and had a big heart, always helping others.  He will be sadly missed by many loving family and friends.  Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.  Funeral service at the funeral home Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. CHEVALIER, Margaretha, oval83 years, of Tilbury, passed away at Tilbury Manor on Friday, July 5, 2013.  Beloved wife of the late Clinton “Tindy” Chevalier.  Dearly missed by her daughter Sandy and her husband Al Le Monnier of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and their family Daniel (Kristin) Le Monnier and their family Lucas and Hannah, David Le Monnier and his son Benjamin; and her daughter Lynn Chevalier of Nanaimo, B.C., and her family Joel (Tina) Davidson and their son Chase.  Predeceased by parents Louis and Margaretha (Weiszgarber) Dautner.  Dear sister of the late Elizabeth (Clare) Wagner, and the late Louis (Bud) Dautner.  Dear sister-in-law of Carlyle Chevalier (2005), Clayton Chevalier (1993), Clare (2010) and Eva Chevalier of Tilbury, Curtis Chevalier of Grand Bend, Cathy and John (2003) Foster of Wheatley.  Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.  Margaret was known for her artistic and creative abilities.  Following cremation, a committal service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Sunni Shular officiating.  Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society appreciated.  Sincere appreciation is extended to the staff at Tilbury Manor Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

CABRAL, Joseph, squarepassed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 24, 2013. Born on January 21, 1930 to his late parents Jose Augusto Cabral and Maria Flores Teadora Cabral in Norte Grande, Sao Jorge, Azores. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Susan (nee Postma) Cabral of 55 years. Joe was a devoted father and no words can express how deeply he will be missed by Joey (Joanne) Cabral, Marg (John) Riegling, Mike (Wendy) Cabral, Lucy (Kelly) Voskamp, Kate (Paul) McKeand, and Dave (Cindy) Cabral. Proud Papa to 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Helena Van Dongen, Otilia Morais, Judy (Paulo) Bettencourt, and Manuel (Shirley) Cabral. Predeceased by two brothers Moises and Mac Cabral and one sister Maria Luiz.
