Died peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, Toronto surrounded by her family at the age of 79. Phyllis of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of the late Saverio. Loving mother of Julie Posa (Ray), Victor (Beth) and Robert. Cherished Nonna of Amanda, Sabrina, Madison, Saverio (Alicia), Benito, Kasey, Lindsey and Presley. Dear sister of the late Michael Costanza (Dina), Tina (the late Michael Nitti), and Stella (Vito Di Mauro). Phyllis will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Phyllis was a loving and generous woman who was so full of energy and compassion. She will be deeply missed. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy on Thursday August 9, 2018 in her 77th year. She went peacefully with family by her side at the Stayner Care Centre. Dorothy of Stayner, beloved sister of Lois (Fred Garland) and Fred (Cindy). Special Aunt to Patty (Todd Marrow), Susan (the late Mark Elliott 2010), David and Michelle Garland, Anita (Steve Morrison), Janice and Crystal Lawson. Great Aunt to Bronte, Jade and Gillian Marrow, Payton, Kenzie, Brady and Cameron Elliott, Elizabeth, Ethan and Owen Garland. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Edward (1978) and Edna (1974). Dorothy enjoyed many years of work at the Stayner Dairy and later at the Alliston Dairy. During her final working years she made and served food at Stayner Collegiate Institute where she enjoyed meeting the boys and girls. The Stayner Care Centre has been her home for the past four years while battling Parkinson’s disease. Her family is so grateful for the dedicated, diligent and compassionate care that she received during her stay there. Gertrude of Collingwood, loving and devoted mother to the late Michael (2003), Wayne (Norma) and Brian (Joanne). Cherished grandmother of Cory, Ryan, Crystal, Shanda, Jason, Justin (Maggie), Jordan, Taura, Tamara (Sid) and Samantha (Chris) and to great grandchildren Miguel, Mateo, Jade, Jackson, Joshua and Lincoln. Gertrude is survived by her sister Grace (late Nelson Grant) and predeceased by siblings Wally, Harry (Violet) and Rose (Charlie Hewitt). She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, especially Margaret-Ann and Charlie, her friends and neighbours. Gertrude was a strong and loving woman who cherished her family deeply. Passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of 50 years to his wife Judy. Proud and loving father of Kevin (Dayle) and Wendy (Paul McCartney). Papa will be greatly missed by Jenna (Curtis Kenwell) and Riley Smith. Dennis was born on July 12, 1939 in Collingwood to the late John and Iva Smith. A true Collingwood lad, what began in the Shipyards changed to a 32-year career in the telephone industry with Nortel. Many will associate him with his love of antiques and vintage cars. Dennis will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his warmth, kindness and the love he demonstrated to family and friends through his thoughtfulness. He was much loved by brothers-in-law Wayne (Dale) Toye, Brian (Gail) Toye, Ian (Judy) Toye, and Harry Claridge. Predeceased by sisters-in-law Gwen Walker (Lionel) and Marilyn Claridge (Jim Purves). Dennis will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He was a great friend and, as an only child, his friends were like family. Dennis was a courageous warrior and battled cancer for twenty years to spend as much time with us as possible – he showed us how to be strong and resilient through challenging times and his legacy of tenacity is a gift to us all. His family is grateful for the support and care given by all involved in his healthcare journey. Died peacefully, after a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer, at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, Ontario on June 28, 2018 at the age of 89. Born in Kirkland Lake, son of the late Venka and Angelo Shubat who immigrated to Canada from Croatia. Brother of the late Goldie and cousin of Jeannie. Loving husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Balfour of 55 years and son-in-law of the late Gladys and Leith Balfour of Toronto. Devoted father of Stephen and Paul. Dear grandfather of Michael, John, Jeff and Chris. Father-in-law of Cheryl, Michelle and Meredith. Step-grandfather of Rachel and Virginia and grandfather-in-law of Kayluh. A very special friend to Sheila.
Wally was principled, optimistic and compassionate; qualities which will always be remembered by his family and his many close friends, colleagues and neighbours. A truly gracious gentleman that took great pleasure from making new friends, keeping in touch with old friends and helping people in his favourite cities: Toronto, Montreal and Wasaga Beach. He was passionate about the Canadian broadcasting business and collecting, restoring and driving his treasured automobiles. During his recent struggles with his health, Wally would remind his family of the importance of the people you meet every single day and that everyone had an interesting story to learn from and share. Wally was most thankful for the people that he came to know and love and for his rich, rewarding, and happy life. It is with sad and heavy hearts that the Dunlop family announces the passing of Catherine on Tuesday June 26th, 2018, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Catherine Sage Dunlop was born on November 10, 1946, the daughter of Mel and Debbie Sage, both deceased. She began her Elementary teaching career in 1966 in Schomberg, Ontario moving back to Simcoe County in 1969. In 1971, she married Fred Dunlop and together, they raised 3 fantastic children on their farm just north of Stayner.
Catherine was passionate about her teaching career, ending at Admiral Collingwood Public School which was on the corner of Hume and Hurontario. She was equally passionate about music. For many years, she could be found on an organ bench in many of the local churches. She has accompanied by many vocalists, violinists, musicians alike, and venues as small as a park, and as large as Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. In 1992, she became organist and choir director at her beloved Centennial United Church in Stayner.
In 2009, she was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and more recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. Cathy spent her final days with family, music and close friends at her side. This was with the medical help and ongoing support from Dr. Quigg and Dr. McLachlin. She leaves to mourn her passing but cherishing memories of happy times, her husband Fred, their children Brian & Anita Dunlop, Peter & Katrina Dunlop and Susan & Scott Irwin. She thrived on the role of grandmother to her seven precious grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Lucas Dunlop, Abby, Jake and Zach Dunlop and McKenna and Sydney Irwin. She is also survived by her brother Willard & Diane Sage, nephew Stephen & Jane Sage, niece Shauna Lee & Dan McFarlane. As well, she leaves her sister-in-law, June Ballard and nephew Derrick & Cynthia Ballard. She was also “great-aunt” to 7 young people and great-great Aunt to Kaysen
Friends were received at Centennial United Church, 234 William Street, Stayner on Friday June 29, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service to celebrate Cathy’s life was held at Centennial United Church on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10 o’clock with a musical prelude starting at 9:30. Interment Stayner Union Cemetery. Reception followed in the CE Wing of Centennial United Church. He was a long time member of the Prime Time Club, loved to fish, participate in sports, particularly darts and he was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan. He will be missed. Loving father of Duane McNabb and Arlene McNabb. Dear brother of Donald and his wife Donna and brother-in-law of Pauline Hughes. George will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and their families – Scott McNabb (the late Sherry), Laura (Tom Macham), Kevin Hughes and Leanne (Vern Shears). George was a lifelong farmer on the town line and a lifelong member of Jubilee Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing music with his piano and accordion and sang in the church choir for many years. He was a strong and gentle man and he will be deeply missed. Died suddenly on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket in her 80th year.  Alice of Stayner, beloved wife of Keith Brown for 49 years.  Loving mother of Lynn (Clay Moffat) of Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Rob (Trudy) Brown of Tomahawk, Alberta, James (Erick) Brown of Toronto and Heather (Brent Trott) of Stayner.  Cherished grandmother of Steven (Jaclyn), Sherri (Patrick), Brittany (Dan), Katelyn (Dustin), Jessica, Jason (Natasha), Jessica (Rob), Heather, Melissa (Shane), Willie (Nicole), Andrew and Callahan and to 21 great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Bill Patton of Stayner and sister-in-law of Shirley (the late Bruce George) of Delhi.  Alice is predeceased by her husband Bud Gillette and her parents Roy (Elsie) Patton and Melba (Tom Bradley).    Alice was a kind and nurturing woman who always put her family first.  She was a lifelong volunteer with many community organizations in particular her church, Centennial United and the Red Cross blood donor clinics.  She loved to knit, bake, cook and garden.  She will be dearly missed by her many friends including those in Lakeland, Florida where they wintered for over 25 years.  Friends will be received at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The ceremony to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Centennial United Church at 1 p.m.  Reception to follow.  If desired, a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family.  For further information and to sign her Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com

Died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood surrounded by her loving family at the age of 39.  Petrina of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of Lee Cannon.  Loving and devoted mother of Seth, Caleb, Christian, Sara, Abigail and Meghan.  Dear daughter of Lynda and the late James Roller.  Dear sister of Doug (Linda), John (Cindy), Deb (Gerry), Christine (Stephen) and Leanne. Passed away peacefully at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the age of 86. Wally of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Marianne Buzza and loving father of Carol (Walter) Schilimme, Bill (Marilyn) Buzza and of Shawn (Ron) Hills. He was also the cherished grandfather of Wally, Cathy, Bill, Zac, Olivia and Simon and great grandfather of Nicole, Tyce, Chloe, Lucas and Nathan. Passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the age of 84. Gordon of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Donna Spencer for 25 years. Loving father of Kelly Wiggins, Brenda (Ralph) Borland, Bruce (Joanne) Francis and of Cheryl Spencer. Cherished grandfather of 15 amazing grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Kathy Spencer-Smith and Mavis Spencer. Gordon will also be missed his many friends, particularly those he met with the many community organizations he supported. Gordon was a Mason for over 48 years and will be missed by his Brethren. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty on Thursday May 24, 2018 at the Stayner Care Centre with family by her side in her 92nd year. Betty of Stayner, beloved wife of the late James Conn. Left with memories to treasure are her three sons: Chalmer (Wendy), Paul (Lonnie) and Greg (Peggy). Cherished grandmother of Cheryl (Dave), Christy (Ryan), Carolyn (Jon), Chris, Curtis and Craig (Angela) and proud great grandmother of 8. She was predeceased by all of her siblings and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Margaret. Betty enjoyed a long teaching career and was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Stayner. Smith, Reverend John Albert

Peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood in his 71st year, John went to be with the Lord.  John of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband and best friend for 51 years to Brenda (nee Hallman).  Loving father of Richard Smith (Bonnie Ford) and Andrea Smith (Regan Trolley).  Cherished grandfather of Mitchel Trolley, Justin and Trenton Smith and Ashley Phillips and two great grandchildren Marceline Trolley and Divonne Phillips.  Dear brother of Reta (Ed Main) and the late Dwight Smith.  John will also be missed by his mother-in-law Myrtle Hallman, brother-in-law Robert Hallman and sister-in-law Carolyn Shea and his many nieces.  John is predeceased by nephew Warren Shea.  John was blessed to have touched many lives during his almost 71 years and through pastoring of many churches.  He made friends easily, shared his wonderful sense of humour openly, loved the peacefulness of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and a round of golf.  He loved wintering in Texas where he played guitar with his many friends.  He was happiest when surrounded by friends and his family.  He will be deeply missed.  Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Friday May 25, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday May 26, 2018 at the Stayner Evangelical Missionary Church, 202 Ontario Street, Stayner from 10 a.m. for the Funeral Service at 11 o’clock.  Reception to follow.  Private interment Ebenezer Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House or Emmanuel Bible College would be appreciated by John’s family.  For further information and to sign his Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com

Heaven received another angel today. With deep sadness, Dylis, passed away peacefully on Monday May 7, 2018 at Amica Retirement Home, Barrie in her 94th year. Dylis of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of the late George Martin (2011) for over 68 years. Loving mother of Diane and her late husband Ken Ross and the late Douglas and his wife Gloria. Cherished grandmother of Kim Martin, Sheri (Tim Welch), Patricia (Clive Mathias) and Brett (Kirsti) Donald. And great grandmother of McKayla, Sydnee, Maya, Reno, Ashden, Brodi, Elijah and Adrian.
