Ray, age 65, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, January 25th, 2019, after years of making every day count in spite of cancer. Ray, beloved husband of Lucy for 43 years. Loving father of Raymond and Sonia Burke (Grayson). Adoring grandfather of Griffin. Ray is survived by his mother Thelma, his brothers Bob (Mary), David (Lori), and his sisters Carol (Paul), Diana (Don), Sharon (Hugh), Debbie (Tony), Betty (Ron), and Pat (Dave). Ray will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Died peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his home at the age of 90. Stan of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Redmond). Loving father of Karen (Larry Flavelle), Chad (Pat), Mike (Marlene) and Trisha Tavenor. Cherished grandfather of Michelle, Tamora (Bob), Angie (Nola), Crystal, Danielle (David) and Chad (Ashley) and great grandfather of Justin, Jordan, Cali, Raiden and Xia. Stan is also survived by his sister Barbara Sinclair and predeceased by siblings Charles, Ernest, Thomas, Eleanor, James, Leonard, Lorne, Jack and Mary. A longtime employee of Alcan Aluminum, Stan was a hardworking, stubborn yet humble family man who loved and cherished his family. He had a lifelong passion for hockey as a player coach and fan and he also enjoyed thoroughbred horses and the racetrack. He will be missed. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family at the age of 86. Marion, beloved wife and friend of Murray Gauley for over 64 years. Loving mother of the late Bob (Janet), Colleen (the late Falk Gruenwald) and Michael (Cindy). Cherished grandmother of Taryn (Dave O’Reilly), Lyndsey (Curtis Morrow), Matthew and Krista Gruenwald and Bronwyn and Calvin Gauley and great grandmother to Koen O’Reilly and Hadlee and Camden Morrow. Marion will also be missed by the extended Sinclair and Gauley families, her friends and neighbours and former colleagues. Marion was passionate, strong-willed and loyal to the ones she loved. She excelled in her professional career in a time when there were fewer women in the workforce. She enjoyed the natural beauty around her, particularly on the golf course with her friends. She cherished her family and the many wonderful moments that they shared. Marion will be truly missed. James (Jim) Irwin Smith

Jim passed peacefully at the age of 87 in Thornbury on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie and two daughters – Janine and Sheena. Jim was predeceased by first wife Jane and daughter Michele. Proud stepfather to Branch and Jay. Adored by grandchildren Kyra, Kelsie, Ali, Grace, Carly, Sofie, Skye and Avery and great grandchildren Aaliyah and Kash. Born to Agnes and James Smith of Glasgow, Scotland, Jim is also survived by brother Donald and sister Jean. Most of Jim’s career was spent in journalism where he worked for numerous Canadian newspapers, magazines and radio stations. He ended his career as Co-ordinator of the Journalism program at Humber College in Toronto. Upon retiring to Wasaga Beach, Jim was an active member of the Friends of Nancy Island, Wasaga Community Theatre, Wasaga Men’s Probus Club and the Masons of Stayner. Jim was happiest with Bonnie by his side, on his sailboat or in front of a typewriter writing the next great Canadian novel. Passed away peacefully at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital on Sunda,y January 20, 2019 in her 81st year. Cherished mom of Sherri (Robert) Pietrobono of Newmarket and Pamela (Michael) Card of Barrie. Marilyn was the Daughter of the late William Smith & Rhoda Johnson of Aurora/Queensville. Dearest Momma to Robert and Anthony Pietrobono of Newmarket, Caroline (Matthew) Rubinoff  of Toronto and Michael (Paula) Card of Barrie. Great Grandma to Jack, Sam, Oliver and Beckett. Dear sister of Paul (Irene) Smith and Gary (Marion) Smith, Queensville. Predeceased by husbands Terry Kennedy and Raymond Ferri and her much loved son Robbie. Marilyn grew up in ‘The Valley’ known today as Jane & Eglinton. Her family grew vegetables and she worked in that Valley which later would become Smith Gardens/Season’s Best of Queensville. She moved to Wasaga Beach in the 60’s and together with her husband Terry opened a plumbing and heating business. After losing their son Rob in 1991 they moved to Stroud to be closer to family.  After Terry passed away in 1998, a gentleman by the name of Ray contacted her. Ray had worked with Marilyn in the 60’s at AP Green. Ray would be her happiness for another 13 years as they settled in Wasaga Beach. We would especially like to thank Mrs. Florence Burns for all her friendship & kindness to my mom for the past couple of years, we will always love you. Loving mother of David and his wife Mary and Garry and his wife Pat. Cherished grandmother of Brook (Gia) and Ben (Lisa) and great grandmother of Kristianna and Hazel and another on the way. Eileen was a longtime resident of Willowdale, spending her summers in Wasaga Beach before becoming a year round resident in 1972. She was a founding member of the Wasaga Art Club, and was one of the artists to create the Winter mural at the Wasaga Stars Arena. She was a dedicated canvasser for the United Way and the Cancer Society and she found her spiritual home at Centennial United Church, Stayner. Died peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie the week before her 87th birthday, surrounded by family. Dorothy of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of the late Charles “Chuck” Kiernan (2014). Loving mother of Steven (Dawn), Catherine, and David (Erin). Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Tim), Kyle (Liz), Lindsay (Tyler), Lucas (Brooke), Aaron (Nara), Hannah, and Ryan. Great Grandmother of Willow, Avalon, Wylder, and Hayden. Dorothy will also be missed by her neighbours and friends. Dorothy found great joy in being a member of the Prime Time Singers and the Wasaga Sunbirds Probus Club for many years and as an active member of her church – Wasaga Beach United Church – for more than 20 years. The family would like to thank the Wasaga Beach community for the love and joy Dorothy experienced during the last chapter of her life. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring. November 27, 1936 – December 21, 2018
Ada passed away at the age of 82 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, with family at her side. Born in Sprucedale, Ontario, to Percy James Smith and Elizabeth Jane (Jenny) White. Younger sister of Mabel Newman Grasley (Fred and Walter). Loving wife of Aldamer Roy (Hap) Smith and Melvin Greenslade, and partner of Garnet Hunter. A caring mother, Ada was cherished by her children: Brian (Sheila), Carrie Lynn (Michael), and Lisa (Darryl). Doting grandmother to Lauren, Emily (Ryan), and Brandon. Sister-in-law to William Morris (Cathie) and the late Julie Morris Kirkpatrick (Bill). Loving Aunt to Jim and Joanne, Angela and Derek, and Christopher. Ada was also close to Mel’s family — Erven, Stella, and Kent, and Cec, Pauline, Janet (Zell), and Sharon (Arkell).Ada will be missed by her extended family and friends. Above all else, Ada loved her family. She was very attentive and interested in every aspect of our lives. She always made our gatherings special with her home cooking, deluxe baking, and unique decorations. Her off-colour jokes and cheeky sense of humour were her trademarks. A celebration of Ada’s life will be held in Wasaga Beach on April 13, 2019 at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West. Details to follow. Died peacefully on Saturday January 19, 2019 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood surrounded by her family at the age of 79. Dee of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of Bas Gosine for over 63 years. Loving mother of Dolores and Brian (Line) Gosine. Cherished grandmother of Stephanie and Rachelle Gosine. Dear sister of Dulcie Mongru, Balchan Khaloo, Bhagwandai Louthan, Latchandai Seepersad, Charandai Mungru, Bissondath Khaloo, Sheila Mohan, Leela Razak, the late Mahadai Dookran, the late Krishnadath Khaloo and the late Baboolal Khaloo and their families. Dee was a gentle and kind woman who loved her family. She was a woman of deep faith and will be dearly missed. Friends will be received at the Lighthouse Community Church, 800 Sunnidale Road, Wasaga Beach on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. for the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m.. Reception to follow. Biss, Kathryn Elizabeth (née Wignall)

Suddenly passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 71. Kathy of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of Tony Biss for over 51 years. Loving mother of Marc and his wife Michelle and Trevor. Cherished grandmother of Morgan and Myles. Kathy is also survived by her sisters Joan Brindle and Barbara Goatley and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Shirley Wignall, sisters Ruth Hiscox and Joy Irwin and her brother Thomas (Tim) Wignall. Kathy was a wonderful woman who was so filled with love, joy and life. She was a BETA SIGMA PHI alumni, gave to her community through her past involvement with the Wasaga Beach Lioness Club and the Alliston Rotary Club where she was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship. Kathy was also a woman of faith and was dedicated to the Wasaga Beach United Church. She will be deeply missed by so many.
