Died peacefully on Monday January 16, 2017 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood in his 92nd year.  Tom of Stayner, beloved husband of Jeannette (nee Desnoyers).  Loving father of Sharon Lammle, William (Roxanna), Linda (Philip Stonehouse), Thomas (Sherry) and Dianna (David Finnigan) and step father of Jim (Arlene) Culbertson, Robert (Helen) Parsik and Lynda (Steve McMillan).  Tom was the proud grandfather of 27 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren with more on the way!  He served in the Second World War and went on to a 28 year career in the military.  Tom’s passion was scouting and he was an active scouter for over 55 years.  He leaves a tremendous legacy for his family and his community. Died peacefully after a short illness, on Friday January 13, 2017 at General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 83.  Ron of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Brampton, beloved husband of Daphney (nee Burry) for 52 years. Loving father of Paul (Liisa Groulx) and devoted grandfather of Ethan. Dear brother of Vilma and her husband Sydney Rutherford, he is pre-deceased by siblings Edna, Violet, Betty, Bunny, Eva and Howard and by his parents John and Mary. It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Toone. An amazing husband to Pat of 48 years, a leading and loving father to Jason and Anna and a devoted Grandad to Emmersen, Chloe and Wyatt. He also loved his daughter in law, Kimberly and son in law, Jason. Ed was a visionary and dedicated man to everything and everyone he touched. His humour and support for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as the West Bromwich Albion FC was undeniable. Died peacefully on Monday December 19, 2016 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 89.  Neil of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Betty (nee Hill) for over 64 years.  Loving father of Jerry.  Dear brother of May Wakelin and Leonard and his wife Eldean.  Neil will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.  Neil was a skilled craftsman who loved to work with wood.  He was a fun loving man and made friends wherever he went.  Betty and Neil enjoyed over 34 years in Wasaga Beach, enjoyed the friendships and card playing at the 412 Club and wintering in Florida.  He will be missed.  A graveside ceremony will be held at the Wasaga Beach Cemetery on Thursday May 25, 2017 at 2 o’clock.  If desired, donations to the Campbell House Hospice would be appreciated by Neil’s family.

Gord of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Marilyn, loving father of Bruce (Lynn), Julie (Tim Kane), Joanne (Rob Little), and Terry (Rosanne). Devoted grandfather of Richard, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica, Kailee, Brandon, Amanda, and Brandon, and great-grandfather of Isabella, Ava, Noah and Ezra. Ford; Donald Wilfrid of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Barrie

Don Ford was born in Toronto to J Wilfrid and Adele (Clark) Ford, the youngest of three children.  He was pre-deceased by his brother Herbert and is survived by his sister Marion Havercroft.  He graduated with a BA (English) from the University of Toronto and earned a MEd from the University of Calgary.  Don worked for Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) at their camps and in student ministry.  He later served on the board of IVCF for Canada as well as the local committee in Barrie, Ontario.  In 1968, he joined the staff of Georgian College in Barrie at the advent of the college.  During his 17 years there, he launched various programs.   He helped to start Inniswood Baptist Church in Barrie, Ontario.  He was a pioneer in Canada for the Alpha course and an active church member.  He also served on the board of Arab World Ministries, which later merged with Pioneers Canada.  Don had a keen interest in the spiritual and professional well-being of his family.  He read widely, was an avid photographer and enjoyed being on the water.   He is survived by his wife Fran and their blended family:  Doug (Cheryl with Madison and Emma), Debera (John with Lucas and Patrick), Christine (Alasdair), Heather (Roy with Ella), Darryl (with Kristen [son Tyler], Melissa and Brandon), Donna (Steve with William, Andrew, Isaac and Abigail) and Rob (Allana with Linley and Esme).  He was pre-deceased by his first wife Barbara and daughter Jennifer.  Don said that if God had a phone number, it would be Jeremiah 33:3— “Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”  He had a deep sense of gratitude for the Lord’s love for him.  “The Lord said:  ‘I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love.  With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.’”  (Jeremiah 31:3)  Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Friday December 16, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday December 17, 2016 at Faith Missionary Church, 1355 River Road West, Wasaga Beach from 1 pm until the time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m.  Spring interment Barrie Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pioneers Canada (Dorchester, Ontario).  For more information and to sign the online Book of Memories, log on to www.carruthersdavidson.com.

A believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and a faithful ambassador for Him, Paul Anderson met his Saviour face to face on December 2, 2016 after leaving his earthly body at his home in Duntroon at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family.  Beloved husband of Lynda (nee Osburn).  Loving father of Mark and his wife Rebecca and Timothy and his wife Christiane.  Cherished grandfather of Hayden, Owen, Keegan and Brooklyn.  Paul was a man filled with love and faith for his family, his community and his church.    He served faithfully for many years as a deacon at Northside Bible Chapel in Barrieandersonpaul, where he gave counsel to many and was loved by all. Passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and long time Live-In Caregiver Marife Estabillo, on Friday November 25, 2016 at the age of 86.  Irma of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Toronto, beloved wife of the late Carl Arnold.  Loving mother of Audrey and her husband Brian Laverty and the late Dagmar Swatogor.  Dear Nana of Jeffery and Mathew Laverty along with their partners AnnMarie Brissett and Jon Osborne.  Irma spent many years coming to her cottage with her first husband Alexander Swatogor, at their family property in Wasaga Beach, before making it her full time residence.  She had a long standing career at International Surveys developing lasting friendships there and is one of the last surviving members from that group.  Coming to Wasaga Beach she met her late husband Carl and they together created a new life and were owners of a couple of Cottage/Condo courts in Wasaga Beach and will be missed by all who knew her.   The family would like to send a special thanks to all the PSW’s and nurses who cared for Irma from St. Elizabeth’s.  Friends will be received at thearnold0002, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach, on Friday December 2, 2016 from 1 p.m. for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m..  Reception to follow.  If desired, donations in Irma’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.  For more information and to sign the Book of Memories, log on to www.carruthersdavidson.com

Died peacefully on Friday November 25, 2016 at Campbell House, Collingwood at the age of 56. Lori of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Englehart, beloved wife of Darrell. Loving mother of Herman (Monica Vadori), Peter, Mackenzie (Gabriella Fern) and Jarin (Victoria). Cherished grandmother of Emma. Loving daughter of Aubrey and Betty Warren. Dear sister of Gerry (Hannu Lindholm) and Tom Warren (Wendy). Dear sister-in-law of Clifford Kant (Seija), Marvin Kant (Shelly) and Darlene Kant (Roseann Clyburn), also left to mourn is Lori’s grandmother Agnes Wood. . Lori will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Lori was a wonderful mother and wife who cherished her time with her family, loved to cook for family and friends and was a skilled hand crafter. Many of her crafts are treasured gifts. A very special thank you to Gerry for her love and support throughout the past four months. Lori’s care was the ongoing daily love shown by sister Gerry. Her family thank Dr. Ray Bouchard, the staff of Campbell House and the General & Marine Hospital for their exceptional care. Died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday November 24, 2016 shortly after his 69th birthday.  Beloved husband of Michelle (Warner). Loving father of Tara (Michael Saunders), Kyle Smyth (Lori), Matthew, Patrick (Andrea) and Daniel. Devoted grandfather of Nathan, Desmond, Conner and Liam. Survived by his siblings Margaret, James and Thomas. Michael devoted over 36 years to Toronto Police Service. Thank you to the compassionate nursing staff of the 2nd Floor Collingwood General & Marine Hospital – Kim, Margaret and Kate. bernier0001Dr. Christopher Douglas Bernier, age 50, cherished son of the late Gerald and Barbara (nee Brawley) Bernier passed away suddenly on Friday November 18, 2016. Devoted and loving father to Brawley, Jared and Julia Bernier.  Survived by Charlene Bernier. Caring brother to Stephanie (Clare) Maher, Michael (Kerry) Bernier, and Michelle (Jeff) Steers. Loving Uncle to Will and Josh Maher, Amara, Emma and Owen Bernier and Katelyn and Patrick Steers. Chris will be greatly missed by his extended family that includes his staff – Anna, Olivia and Gina, aunts, uncles, cousins, and patients.  A small town boy at heart, Chris felt very privileged to be the first optometrist to settle in Wasaga Beach where he practiced for 20 years.  Dr. Bernier was dedicated and committed to providing his patients with excellent care and service.  As an outdoors and sports enthusiast, Chris made many lasting friendships. He took pleasure in watching his children grow up enjoying the activities he loved to do; boating and fishing on Georgian Bay, card playing, sunsets and bonfires at the family cottage. Chris will always be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humour and his generosity.  Visitation will be held at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Saturday, November 26 from 10 a.m – 12 p.m..  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Noel Chabanel Catholic Church, 133 Dunkerron Avenue, Wasaga Beach on Saturday, November 26 at 1:00 p.m.  Reception to follow at St. Noel Chabanel Catholic Elementary School, 425 Ramblewood Drive, Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Passed away peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2016 at Sunset Manor, Collingwood with Gerry, her loving husband of  65 years, at her side.  Jean of Wasaga Beach, in her 90th year, loving mother of Nancy, Steven (Mary Rose) and Sandra (Hans).  Cherished grandmother of Maddalena, Angela and Carina and great-grandmother of Téo.  Predeceased by her brothers Bob Barnett, Tom Barnett, Bill Barnett and Roy Barnett.  Jean was a talented and very active quilter and her creations will be keeping many of us warm for many years to come.  The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Harry O’Halloran and and his assistant Linda for their many years of outstanding compassionate care.
