MONTGOMERY, Jerome Richmond of Ottawa, Ontario

Peacefully in hospital on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the age of 80. Jerome was predeceased by his parents, John Angus and Catherine, his sister, Betty Dorr, and his brother, John Schreiber. Beloved spouse of Sarah Prower, loving father of Tanya (Shaun) and Andrea (James), and cherished grandpa of Joseph and Kathryn Egan, and Seth and Sadie Copperthwaite. He will be missed by extended family and numerous friends. “Monty” was intensely interested in the world around him and even just a couple of days before his death was keenly following the news. He loved to drink a few pints with friends and talk about his many and diverse passions; current affairs, music, literature, history, languages, Heidelberg, Russia, art, philosophy, and of course, cats. He had a wonderful sense of humour and would often tell stories of his taxicab adventureshis world travels or people he’d met.  Monty was a unique person and those who knew him were lucky to have him in their lives. The interment of his ashes will be at a later date. Sincere thanks to everyone at Élizabeth Bruyère Hospital for their kindness and caring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bruyère’s Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family. Donations can be made to at or by mail at 43 Bruyère St. Ottawa, ON K1N 5C8.
