Tebbutt, Anna – Anna Agnes Tebbutt passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14th in Owen Sound, Ontario at the age of 87, formerly of Markdale. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Melvin “Mike” Tebbutt and sister Lillian “Stella” Watson. Anna is survived by her son John (Margaret) Tebbutt, daughter Sharen (Michael) Radford, grandchildren Kevin, Tanya, Tracey (deceased) and Darcy as well as her great-grandchildren Jordyn and Cole.

Anna will be lovingly remembered by the Tebbutt, Andreychuck, O’Ball and Corneilus families and her many friends. Anna’s family would like to graciously thank the staff at Summit Place who took such good care of Anna over the past 10 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be presented by Reverend Jim Wyllie at Cooke’s Presbyterian Church, 14 George St. Markdale, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Hancock,WilliamHANCOCK, Bill – Peacefully, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Markdale, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, William (‘Bill’) Lloyd Hancock in his 90th year. Dearly loved spouse of Anne Wetheral. Loving father of Lynnie Hancock (Larry Roberson) of Florida. Bill will also be missed by his brother, Jack, and his family of Penticton, BC.

Bill and his brother operated a fishing and hunting camp near Powassan, ON. Later, Bill worked as a financial advisor in Toronto. In the 1970’s Bill moved to Beaver Valley where he built a home on a wooded acreage that he and Anne have continued to enjoy. Bill loved the outdoors in all seasons – hunting, fishing, canoeing, skiing or enjoying the Rocky Saugeen River on his property – and working with his hands through woodcarving. He was an original member of Beaver Valley Ski Club and a member of Markdale Golf and Curling Club where he enjoyed curling and golfing as well as being an avid tennis player and instructor at the Club. Bill will be remembered by many whose lives he touched.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. Mercer, MargaretMERCER, Margaret Mae – With great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Mae Mercer (nee McLintock) on September 26th, 2014 in her 101st year. Marg passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. A longtime resident of Markdale and Beaver Valley, she is predeceased by her husband Hugh Mercer and sister Dorothy McLintock. She leaves behind sister Verna (Bill) Schenk and will be dearly missed by niece Diane (Terry) Hallett, nephew Bill (Janice) Schenk, many grand-nieces, extended family and friends.

Margaret was a talented artist and dedicated supporter of the arts and crafts as well as her community. She was a charter member of the Grey Highlands Rug Hooking Guild, lifetime member of the Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary and proud supporter of the Markdale Hospital Building Fund. Marg was excited to hear of the recent announcement to break ground for the new Markdale Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the May Funeral Home in Markdale on Saturday October 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at Annesley United Church, 82 Toronto St. S., Markdale.

Sims, Richard002Sims, Richard – It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Richard Lawrence (Laurie) Sims. Son of the late Albert and Helen Sims, Laurie passed away peacefully with family at his side at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham, on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Laurie was a proud veteran of the 2nd World War. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Grace Rose Sims (Camplin) July 2012, and nine siblings. He will be remembered as a generous and loving dad by his children: Donna Greenwood (Fergus), Dianne Saunders (North Bay), Barb Hanley (Williamsford) and Doug Sims (McCullough Lake Dr.). Also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Rick, Leanne, Jeff, Jerry, Kelly, Stephanie, Tyler, Dylan and Katie and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all. Rest in Pease Dad 1924-2014. Special grandmother of 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Survived by brother William Clark of Eugenia. Predeceased by son Allan, grandsons Darrin and Daniel Coburn, brothers Robert and Harold and sister Leila. SWIATEK, Edmond – Passed away peacefully at the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, Owen Sound, on November 28, 2013. Edmond Swiatek of R.R. # 1 Holland Centre in his 79th year. Dear partner of Diane Russell. Brother of Henry (June) Swiatek of Brampton, Deanna Swiatek of Toronto and Marilyn Russell (Bill Simpson) of Keswick. Brother-in-law of Brent & Martha Russell of North Carolina. Uncle of Darlene, Paul and Bobby. Sadly missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and Buddy the cat. Predeceased by parents Rudolf and Stella Swiatek, and siblings Joanne, Joseph and Stan.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the May Funeral Home, Markdale, Monday June 23, 2014 at 11:00 am, followed by interment of cremated remains in Markdale Cemetery.

Loving mother of Michael (Sandra), Mark, John (Jane), Mary Kay (Frank) and Jim (Kellie). Cherished grandmother of Patrick (Jessica), Jamie, Mary, Katrina, Erick, Tyler and Alexa. Dear sister of Tom (Lois), John (Carol), Luke (Mariam) and Patricia (Jim). Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
