Posted by on November 18, 2017

DOROTHY MARY CAVELL SCRUTON (NEE BAKER) March 3, 1918 – October 23, 2017   This was a long life fortified by faith and strengthened by a prevailing perspective of gratitude. Dorothy defined her life by the blessings she had been afforded and took little note of those that had eluded her. She was predeceased by her husband William Scruton and subsequently by companion Edward Hardacre.  She is survived by sons William, Richard & Edward. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nicole, Lauren, Laurie-Dawn, Louise and Ted. Born and raised in Cookstown, Dorothy was the youngest of nine children to the late William James Baker and the late Edith Wesson.  She was predeceased by her brothers Jack, George, Norman (Alice Harris) & Frank – by her sisters Betty, Kathleen, Frances (Percy Heal) & Madge (Douglas Hedger) – and by favoured niece Mary Lou (Dick Weistra). As per Dorothy’s wishes, cremation & a private service of internment have taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Marshall W. Driver Cremation & Burial Service, 19 Ross St., Barrie.
