February 21, 1986 – January 29, 2019

Son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, husband, survivor…

After trying to find purpose, meaning, and the strength to go on, Jeremiah achieved the peace he longed for by joining his wife and best friend Courtney. Jeremiah challenged us all to look deeper, love harder, and hold hope. He was an exceptional person. He was dealt a hard hand in this life, he bore an encumbrance of adversity that would buckle most. His story is one of wild contradiction. Throughout the chapters of his life and indeed page by page, he bounced between dazzling brilliance and glaring futility. He was kind, funny, loving, insightful, and wickedly smart. He tried for so long and worked so hard to be a better human. His successes and achievements were hard won and cycle breaking, he was a statistical anomaly, but he was worn down by grief, hurt, shame, and hopelessness. He was equal parts beautiful, fallible, astute, and irrational. He was exhausting and uplifting, dispiriting, and inspiring. He burned bright and went hard. For those of us fortunate enough to have experienced his intensity, the world will be a little less shiny and a lot quieter. He will be missed, he mattered, he was loved.

In lieu of flowers and in the absence of a service, please commit to learning about  trauma, mental illness, and addiction…and then go out and look deeper, love harder, and hold hope for those who are adrift and seeking.
