Today I said goodbye to my life partner of 17 years, my friend, my confidant, my business partner and most ardent critic. We had good times, we had stressed times and we had so much fun. We got to see a great deal of the world together and for this you will always be in my heart. I will miss you terribly – continuing on our adventures alone will be difficult, please keep me company and watch over me.

I know you are in a better place. You are at peace and can finally breathe easier and have no pain. Rest easy until I see you again.

Doug is survived by his spouse Janet Carter, his mom and dad, Frances and Gordon Smaill, his three Siblings – Jim Smaill, Barb Brown, Susan Gowers, their spouses and children. He had 5 children, Troy Smaill, Melissa Derbyshire, Meadow McClintock, Lindsay Fletcher and Kyla Smaill as well as one step daughter Shannon Poulton. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren.

STEWART (LORD) – Mary Teresa (nee Belcher) of Mount Hope Long Term Care of St Joseph’s Health Care London and formerly of Gladstone, Crediton and St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her late residence on Tuesday May 23rd, 2017 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Charles Lord and the late Rev James Stewart. Dearly loved mother of Anne Uhlmann (Peter) of Dutton, Theresa Forsey (Robert) of Newfoundland, Susan Jewczy of Waterloo, Christopher Lord (Sam) of St Thomas, Richard (Dick) Lord (Deb) of Crediton, Philip Lord (Connie) of Birmingham, England and Andrew Lord (Harriet) of Greenville SC. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Alice Louwry, Harriet (Jewy) Kingsnorth, Charles Belcher, twin Marian Crosby, Rose Greig and Patricia Lord. Mary was born in England on December 6, 1922, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Fields) Belcher. Mary served during World War II with the British Airforce before starting her own family, raising 4 children born in England, then immigrating to Canada to add another 3 children. Mary was a former member of Gladstone Baptist, Emmanuel Baptist of Exeter and then Eastwood Baptist of St Thomas. Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life were held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas at 1:00pm on Saturday May 27th, 2017. Private interment in Dorchester Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations requested by Mary to Eastwood Baptist Church of St Thomas or the Canadian Bible Society. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be announced for a later date.

PHINN, Anne Jane (Brown) of Winnipeg, formerly of Grand Bend and Ancaster, age 88

PHINN:  Anne Jane Phinn, formerly of Grand Bend and Ancaster, died at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, April 13, 2017 due to complications with pneumonia.  Born on October 7, 1928 to Herb and Fernie (nee Chambers) Brown of London, Ontario.  Anne was predeceased by most of her family; husband Ted; daughter Ellen; son Roric Ryan; mother Fernie; father Herb; sister Joyce “Tigger” Dean and nephew Kelly.  She is survived by her son Tory and his wife Faye of Winnipeg, grandchildren Eli, Joel, Gen, Deanna and Derek, Krista and Adam and 3 great-grandchildren Malachi, Quinn and Laya.  Anne Jane was the epitome of strength and uniqueness, a brae bonny lass, with an unassailable optimism for life.  She had an unquenchable curiosity for all things.  Her love of animals was obvious as she fed all the stray cats, skunks, raccoons, crows and squirrels in the neighbourhood.  Her dog, Sable, has a large personality much like her own.  Due to the untimely death of her husband, Anne, at age 39, was left to raise 3 children on her own.  She gathered her strength and soldiered on with clarity and purpose.  Her pride was her farm, her sand pit operation, real estate and politics.  Her vibrancy and zest for life led her to become a crack shot, an avid golfer and tennis player.  She also loved poetry, a good glass, friends and the Toronto Blue Jays.  Anne decided to leave this world, hence the Jays poor start to the season and hopefully they can turn things around. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, on Monday, April 17, 2017 with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the service.  Interment Bethesda Cemetery, 542 Garner Rd. HAHN:  Peacefully, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario, Ella Ione (Peggy) Hahn, in her 97th year, on Wednesday April 5, 2017.  Predeceased by her parents, Ellsworth and Mae Seabrook; her husband, Jim Hahn, and their children Paul Hahn and Lynne Hahn; and her siblings, Bill Seabrook, Jack Seabrook, Maxine Pringle, Laferne Seabrook and Archie Seabrook. Survived by her sister, Lois Challinor; her grandson, Mark Hahn; her great-grand-daughter, Madeline Hahn; and her many nieces and nephews, including Ken Hahn; Susan and Clay Seabrook; Cathy, Debbie, John, Mark and Diana Seabrook and Vanda Rawikainen; David and Charles Pringle; Beth, Bill and Robert Seabrook; and John II, Geoffrey and Mark Challinor.  A Hahn family funeral service is scheduled to take place on Saturday June 17, 2017, at  10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1331 4th Avenue West, Owen Sound, Ontario. CASSIDY: Wilma “Billie” Joan (Train) Cassidy, aged 88 of Ancaster, Ontario, formerly of Grand Bend and Toronto, died peacefully on March 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton. She was born on May 15, 1928 in Hamilton Ontario to Percival Horace and Jessie Ann (Patterson) Train. Billie is survived by her children Dr. J. David (Dr. Terri Skjaveland) and Joanne (Dr. Bruce Menchions), grandson Jesse Page (Siobhan), great granddaughter Lily Moon Page and granddaughters Alexandra and Tania Stroback. She was also loved by her nieces, nephews and their families. Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband Dr. H. Joseph Cassidy (2002). ).
