Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 of Exeter and formerly of Kippen in her 71st year. Beloved wife of the late Gerry Johnson (2011) and dear friend of Bob Down.  Dear mother of Steve and Shelley Johnson of Exeter, and Jane Johnson and Mike Strang of Exeter. Loving grandmother of Emerson Johnson and Brooklyn and Madelyn Rau and step-grandmother of Madison and William Strang. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Doug and Ann Hugill of Seaforth, and Wayne Hugill and Judy Wood of Mitchell. Predeceased by parents Harold and Doris Hugill, and sister-in-law Joyce Hugill. Sandra will be greatly missed by her furry friend, Aero.

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on September 10, 2017 of Bayfield, and formerly of London in her 77th year. Loving mother of Bonnie Rockwell of New Brunswick, and Cynthia Rockwell of China. Dear grandmother of Bobby, Jeremy, and Gregory Acheson. Dodie was also adored by her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by Donald, and Patricia Carey, several nieces and nephews, friends; Tom Graham, Maureen Taylor, and her best friend Barbara Durant. Predeceased by Donald Robinson, Rosemary Carey, and Ronnie Whetstone. Peacefully, at Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich, Ontario on Monday, September 11, 2017, Sidney D. Ramer, in his 97th year.  Beloved husband of Viola M. (Gingerich) Ramer for 69 years.  Father of five children, Anne Rolleman, Lois (Hank) Bos, Jim (Phyllis) Ramer, Thelma (Rodney) Steinman, and Janice Ramer.  Survived by his sisters Elsie McDowell and Grace Ramer.  Sidney and Viola have thirteen grandchildren, Rob, Geoff, Lynda, Daryl (Celeste); Adrian (Bonnie), Justin; Jamie (Lea-Anne), Chad (Jennifer), Jill, Jana-Lynn; Joanna (Mathew), Luke (Erin) and Aimee-Joy.  Remembered by his great-grandchildren Hannah, Grant, Zephan, Zion; Henry, Koen; Brody, Payton, Kaybrie, Reece, Morgan, Seth, Jaidyn; Rebecca, and Jackson.  Survived by in-laws Laurene Zehr, Steve and Mary Ellen Gingerich, Verna Gingerich and Mary Gingerich.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. GRANT: Bruce Donald of Lucan

At LHSC-University Hospital on September 8, 2017, Bruce passed away following a massive stroke at the age of 66. Bruce is fondly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Deb, and is survived by his children Jeff of British Columbia, Brittany Grant (Christopher Denda) of Dorchester, and by his grandchildren Olivia Grant and Raiden Denda.   Also survived by his sister Nancy Hergott of British Columbia, nephews Conrad and Simon, cousin Alan Grant (Gloria) and their family.  Lovingly remembered by mother-in law Barbara McCulley, sister-in-law Pam McCulley-Bookham (John) of Fort St. John, B.C., niece Dana and nephew Micah and their families.   Bruce leaves behind many family and friends.  Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Doris (Malleau), infant brother Paul, and father-in-law C.W. (Chuck) McCulley.

Bruce was born in Toronto, raised in Guelph and spent his younger years riding dirt bikes with his best buddy Rick Burns (Pat) and his life long friends.  Bruce moved to London in 1979 to attend Fanshawe College.  It was there that he later began a career in co-operative education which lasted 25 years.  After retirement from Fanshawe, Bruce realized his dream of opening an art gallery.  He opened Grant Gallery in Lucan in 2007 and was a familiar face on Main Street for 9 years.  Bruce was an avid fly fisherman and master fly tyer.  He also enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening.  Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him will know that he always had a smile, a joke, or a friendly ‘hello’ to share.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Cremation has taken place.

Dear brother and brother-in-law of Barbara and Jim Prowse and Doug and Debbie Cook all of London, David and Dawn Cook of Southampton and Merry Cook of Quesnel, B.C. Peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2017 of Zurich and formerly of Exeter in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Betty (Brown) Kirk. Dear father of Greg, Kelly

and Jeff Webster, and Patty. Adored “Pa” of Brandyn, Matthew and Josie, Adam, Ashley and Leah. Predeceased by his daughter Debbie (1993), son Mark (1989) and daughter-in-law Sandy (2015).  Bob will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters and their families. He was a long-time member of the Local 593 UA Plumbers Union and was proud to have worked on many of the large buildings across Southwestern Ontario.

Passed away after a year long battle with lung cancer, at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital on Thursday, August, 10, 2017, of Ailsa Craig, formerly of Exeter in his 63rd year. Loving husband of Margaret (Andela) Taylor. Beloved father of Megan (Dave) of Lucan, William Jr. of London, and Troy (Paola) of London. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Phyllis and John Fox, Laurence and Elizabeth Taylor, Dave and Sandra Taylor, and Vicki Taylor. Bill will also be remembered by the Andela family. Predeceased by his parents William Harley and Mary Taylor.

Hawes: Dr. Douglas William of Exeter and formerly of London

Dr. Douglas William Hawes was born in Montreal on March 26, 1919 and much of his youth was spent in Greenfield Park. He proudly served overseas in the Canadian Army during WWII, a lieutenant in the 2nd Survey Regiment. He returned to Canada where he met Louise Sharpe at the Dawson College campus of McGill University in St. Jean Quebec. They married in 1946. Doug graduated with his B.Eng. in 1950. While together they worked and raised their three children, he never ceased to study,  going on to complete his MSc (Polytechnique) and PhD (Concordia). His research in energy efficient construction materials contributed to pioneering study in this field. He was a kind and generous man who loved a good story. He died on August 8, 2017, age 98 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Louise (2002) and eldest son Doug (2014) as well as brothers Fred (2008) and Bill (2016). Sadly missed by daughter Janet (Bob), son Barrie and daughter-in-law Barb. Loved and remembered by granddaughters Andrea (Mateo), Cari (Reza) and Kate (Xavier). His legacy continues with beautiful great-grandson Gabriel.

Loving mother of Michael and Charmaine Somerton, Marie (Liz) and Tim Hiscox, Barbara and Glenn Burch, and the children she valued as her own. Cherished grandmother of Nikki and Mike, Jeni and Jeff, and Ashley; Reid, Britney and Cain, and Katy and Dave; Amanda and Chris. Great grandmother of Nathan, and Taylor; Landen, and Evan; Ava;Vada, Reef and Wells; Makayla, Sawyer, and Mason. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Mary-Anne Loveridge and her 6 siblings. At Craigwiel Gardens Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig on Sunday, July 23, 2017 of Ailsa Craig and formerly of Thedford in her 94th year.  Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Van Beek (2003).  Dear mother of  Antoinette and Neil Wagner of Platsville, Laura Fischer of Cambridge, Lawrence Van Beek and Rosalyn Lee of British Columbia, Ken and Deb Van Beek of Brussels, Martin Van Beek and Catherine Cook of Bayfield, Anthony and Angela Van Beek of Thedford, Mary Lou and Peter Winkler of Constance Bay, Dan Eichler of New Hamburg, and Bob Schnarr of Ailsa Craig.  Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Dear sister-in-law of Katherine Van Beek of Cambridge, and Emma Van Beek of British Columbia.  Predeceased by infant first child Anthony, daughters Cora Schnarr (2005) and Joan Eichler (2008), and her brothers and sisters.  Hennie was one of thirteen children in the de Graaf family.  Lawrence and Hennie immigrated to Canada in 1949 after the war to start their own family of ten children.
